The 37-year-old House of Hammer subject disclosed on Tuesday, August 27, on his Instagram account that he is selling his cherished vehicle in exchange for a more economical one.
“So, I’ve been back in L.A. for a couple of weeks now, this is my truck,” he began in the selfie clip.
“I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself,” the actor said of his 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Pickup. “I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it for one last road trip to CarMax.”
Before stepping inside his car for the final time, Hammer emphasized that his film was “not an ad for CarMax” and panned the camera to display the company’s sign.
“This is because I’m selling my truck. Since being back in L.A., I have put about 4 or 500 dollars worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore,” Hammer confessed.
The hero of Death on the Nile reminisced on his wonderful times spent in the truck, including “amazing trips” and “bringing kids home from the hospital.”
With his former spouse Elizabeth Chambers, Hammer has a 9-year-old daughter Harper and a 7-year-old son Ford.
“But you know what? That’s okay. I got a new car. It’s tiny. It’s a hybrid. I’m probably gonna put about 10 bucks of gas in it a month, and this is it,” he said, adding, “Here’s to new beginnings. It’s my birthday tomorrow.”
Hammer said that he will be “beginning my birthday in a new car, in a new apartment, in a new life in Los Angeles” on August 28.
He continued by saying, “I appreciate it all,” acknowledging that his car had come a long way. I hope you treat the next individual with the same respect.
Hammer addressed previous charges made against him, including claims of cannibalism and physical and sexual assault, during an appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored in July.
In the broadcast interview, the performer refuted the claim that he had ever “eaten any human flesh.”
He also acknowledged having “a very intense affair,” which resulted in his 2023 divorce from 42-year-old Chambers.
Hammer stated that the charges of branding and cannibalism caused him to ponder suicide, but he ultimately chose against it for the sake of his children, who he was thereafter only permitted to visit under supervision.
The actor was attempting to put his life back on track, according to insiders who spoke in June.
“He wants to prove himself and win back credibility by clawing his way back into Hollywood,” one insider said. “He doesn’t want to be seen as taking favors.”
Added another source: “He hasn’t been leaning on family money or what people might think because he’s a ‘Hammer.’ It seems like he’s really put in the work with treatment.
