Jared Padalecki is making a comeback. The 39-year-old actor took to Instagram on Tuesday to express his gratitude for fans’ support and to provide an update on his health following news of his involvement in a serious vehicle accident.
“Howdy, y’all!” “I would want to express my gratitude to everyone for the outpouring of love,” Padalecki wrote beside a photo of himself and his daughter. “I’m feeling much better and hope to resume filming later this week.”
“I’m so fortunate to have had the best treatment and to be surrounded by people who care about me,” he continued, mentioning his wife, Genevieve. “I’m so appreciative of everyone.”
Genevieve — who had earlier in the day shared a photo of their puppy with the caption “the finest medication” — later shared her husband’s message to her Instagram Stories. The pair married in 2010 and have three children: Thomas, ten, Austin “Shep,” eight, and Odette, five.
After Padalecki revealed on Twitter over the weekend that he will be missing Creation Entertainment’s Supernatural Official Conventions fan event in New Jersey on Sunday, his close friend and longtime Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles verified the news.

“He was involved in a horrific vehicle accident,” Ackles explained of his on-screen brother. “He was not operating a motor vehicle. He was a passenger, and he is fortunate to be alive.”
“He’s recovering at home, which — the fact that he’s not even in the hospital right now blows my mind because I saw the car,” Ackles revealed. “That airbag is lethal. ‘I feel like I did 12 rounds with Tyson,’ he says. However, he is doing well and is moving around. However, [it was a] truly horrific vehicle accident. Simply keep him in your thoughts, offer him some love on social media when you get a chance, and he’ll return to us soon.”
