Legoshi encounters Tem’s killer in Beastars season 2, but what lies ahead for the befuddled teen wolf and the other Cherryton Academy students? With Studio Orange and Netflix announcing Beastars season 3, here’s all we know about the anime’s upcoming story arc and likely release date.
Beastars is based on Paru Itagaki’s manga series and is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals classified as herbivores and carnivores. While this world looks to be civilised, there is still conflict between the two classes of life and an undercurrent of violence as certain carnivores succumb to their cravings to devour prey species. Legoshi, a bashful adolescent grey wolf, struggles to reconcile his romantic feelings for Haru, a white dwarf rabbit, with his predatory instincts. Meanwhile, a murder mystery intensifies as Legoshi looks for the carnivore that brutally devoured his companion, an alpaca named Tem.
While the narrative surrounding Tem’s death was concluded in Beastars season 2, there are still numerous unanswered stories from the manga’s 196 chapters. Here’s what to expect from Beastars Season 3.
Beastars Season 3 Release Date
Beastars Season 3’s release date has not yet been established. Beastars seasons 1 and 2 broadcast on Fuji TV in Japan a few months prior to its Netflix release, and the same release pattern can be expected for Beastars season 3. Beastars season 3 is expected to premiere on Netflix in the fall of 2022, following the release of season 1 in March 2020 and season 2 in July 2021.
Beastars Season 3 Storyline
The murder mystery narrative in Beastars season 2 was resolved when it was revealed that Riz, a brown bear and fellow member of Cherryton Academy’s theatre club, was responsible for Tem’s assassination and consumption. Rather than contacting the authorities, Legoshi chose to confront Riz directly.
Legoshi was able to control his predatory inclinations through his treatment with carnivore therapist Gouhin, but his rigorous training and abstinence from meat left him too frail to defeat Riz in a battle. Louis asked Legoshi to eat the bottom piece of his leg in the season finale, which kept Louis alive but gave Legoshi just enough strength to battle Riz. Legoshi and Riz were both arrested, and while Legoshi was released later that day, the devouring incident remained on his permanent record.
While the romance between Legoshi and Haru was mostly put on hold during Beastars season 2, the concluding sequence hinted that it will continue to blossom in season 3, as Haru informs Legoshi that if he does not decide to date her, she will find another boyfriend.
