“Tortured Poets Department” by Taylor Swift had the biggest streaming week ever as it debuts at No. 1 on Billboard

After selling close to two million physical copies of her current album in what Billboard called a “historic” debut, Taylor Swift‘s “mind is blown” by the success of the album’s streaming stats.

When “The Tortured Poets Department” was released last week, it immediately shot to the top of Billboard’s Hot 200 chart. When equivalent units through streaming are taken into account, Swift’s most recent album sold over 2.6 million copies in its first week of release, according to the music newspaper.

More than 1.9 million records were sold through traditional album sales, including both physical and digital downloads.

According to the site, “she is the only act in the modern era with seven different albums to each sell at least 1 million copies in a single week.”

With 3.4 million copies sold in a single week, Adele’s 2015 album “25” still surpasses Swift’s, while NSYNC is not far behind with 2.4 million copies of their 2000 album “No Strings Attached.”

However, Swift’s most recent album also had the greatest streaming launch ever for an album. According to Billboard, the total number of official streams for all 31 tracks was 891.37 million.

Swift thanked her fans on X, stating that she was “fired up” to resume her global tour in a few weeks and that she was completely amazed by their support.

There are four different versions of “The Tortured Poets Department” available on CD, cassette, and vinyl, each with an individual extra track. In addition, she offers limited collector’s edition CDs that were only available on her website, as well as vinyl and CDs that are only available at Target.

Additionally, Swift unveiled a surprise 31-track deluxe version at 2 a.m. on April 19, which was accessible via streaming and digital download.
