Stephenie Meyer Is Finally Releasing Midnight Sun

I’m not sure how relevant Twilight is in the current pop-culture landscape; given that it’s faded into relative obscurity over the years. It was certainly popular all the way back in the early-2010s when YA adaptations were all the rage. But in this day and age, Twilight’s relevance seems limited to the occasional “Still a better love story than Twilight” comment on YouTube. In any case, Twilight is back. Sorta anyway.

Stephenie Meyer is gearing up to release a new novel “Midnight Sun” in the series; though it won’t necessarily tell a whole new story. You might be familiar with the title because Meyer planned on publishing it in 2008. The book intended to retell The Twilight Saga but from Edward Cullen’s perspective. But after a manuscript was leaked, Meyer decided not to publish it at all.

Twilight Isn’t The Only Returning YA Series

The YA-culture seems to be returning, what with Suzanne Collins also revisiting her Hunger Games trilogy. Only this time, it’s a prequel set 64 years prior, starring a young Coriolanus Snow.

“I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on August 4,” Meyer said joyfully; in a pre-recorded video broadcast on Good Morning America. “It’s a crazy time in the world right now and I was not sure if it was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so so long it didn’t seem right to make you wait for it any longer.”
