A lot of people have talked about how appealing tennis whites are. But what about tighty-whities for tennis? Well, Zendaya made the case for wearing underwear as outerwear while promoting her new tennis movie in Australia. This was right after her first red carpet appearance at the Challengers on Tuesday.
Pelagia Kolotouros, Lacoste’s new and popular design director, was asked by Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach to make her a custom black-and-white look. The actress wore a sleeveless crop top with glittery details along the neckline from the designer’s most recent fall 2024 collection. It matched with high-waisted underwear.

A see-through maxi skirt that the actor wore loosely around her hips made the outfit even more interesting. This Lacoste skirt also had a slit that went all the way up to her thighs, just like her Loewe opening outfit.
After that, Zendaya accessorized her look with a tousled updo, a pair of dazzling heels, and other Bulgari pieces. It’s obvious that Roach and Zendaya are bringing out their competitive sides for the Challengers press tour. While there is undoubtedly a lot of athleisure and tenniscore mixed in, there is also a consistent tendency toward trendier red carpet components like sheer and sparkly materials and exposed underwear.
Afterwards, the actress joined Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist, her co-stars, for a photo op outside Sydney’s Opera House. Faist wore a tan suit and a white button-down shirt, looking dapper. Wearing a leather motorcycle jacket, black leggings, and a tank top, O’Connor added a little edge to the ensemble.
In contrast to her most recent Dune: Part Two press tour, Zendaya’s Challengers attire is very different in tone. It makes sense considering that she portrays a buzzworthy tennis pro in the latter and a Fremen in the former. Even still, Zendaya and Roach seem to be carrying on the Dune motif of clothing, albeit with a more athletic flair. However, there hasn’t yet been a significant historical moment, such as the actress’s Mugler cyborg outfit.

The silhouette of a tennis player serving was embroidered on the actress’s custom Loewe gown, which was created in the ideal Wimbledon green. Tennis greats like Venus Williams, Novak Djokovic, and founder René Lacoste all wore the French brand on the court, so her most recent Lacoste moment is just another nod to the sport. There are still many places left on Zendaya’s Challengers press tour, and we’ll have to wait and see what the actress has in store for us.
