Zendaya is an actress, dancer, model, and singer of African descent from Oakland, California.
She began her career as a child model and backup dancer before garnering notoriety for her role as Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up alongside co-star Bella Thorne, who played CeCe Jones. Early Years
Zendaya Maree Stoermer Coleman was born in Oakland, California, on September 1, 1996, as the only daughter of Claire Marie Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu Coleman.
She attended Fruitvale Elementary School, where her mother taught – Claire Stoermer was also a house manager for California Shakespeare Theater, where Zendaya performed in productions such as Richard III and Twelfth Night, in which she portrayed Lady Anne. Zendaya later attended Oak Park High School.
Coleman starred as Little Ti Moune in Once on This Island at Berkeley Playhouse and as the breakout male character Joe in Caroline, or Change at TheaterWorks in Palo Alto while attending Oakland School of the Arts.
Career
Zendaya began her career by modelling for Macy’s, Mervyns, and Old Navy. She appeared in an iCarly toys advertisement. She was also a backup dancer in a Sears ad starring the Disney actress Selena Gomez.
The most significant advancement in her acting career occurred when she landed one of the starring parts in the Disney Channel show Shake It Up. The series aired from 2010 to 2013, during which time Zendaya recorded her first songs and filmed her first music videos. She also starred in one episode of the Disney Channel series “Good Luck, Charlie.”
In 2013, Zendaya and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy competed on “Dancing with the Stars,” where they placed second. In the same year, she released her first solo single, “Replay,” as well as her self-titled first album, which peaked at number 51 on the US Billboard 200.

Zendaya provided the voice for Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy and acted in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021.
