The second season of You, the Lifetime adaptation of the best-selling novel by Caroline Kepnes about a young guy named Joe who begins pursuing and seducing the woman of his fantasies, has officially migrated to Netflix. Sera Gamble, from The Magicians, and Greg Berlanti’s partnership have already attracted a wider audience on the well-known streaming platform. The show’s appealing ensemble, which in Season 1 includes Penn Badgley, Elizabeth Lail, and Shay Mitchell, is a superb parody of the “Nice Guy” cliche.

You Season 2 Plot
Viewers are made aware of Joe’s prior wrongdoings at the beginning of Season 2, including the killing of Guinevere. He also encountered Candace, whom he had left for dead, or so he believed. Joe left for Los Angeles in search of a new life, complete with a new name: Will Bettelheim, tormented by her survival and Beck’s passing. After meeting his new neighbors, 15-year-old Ellie and her brash older sister, Delilah, the actor’s stream-of-consciousness narrative began to pick up speed and seemed to be an ironic background for his gloomy tendencies.
When Joe first met Love, a young widower, at the grocery store owned by the Quinn family, Anavrin (“Nirvana spelled backward”), aka his new job, the former bookstore manager was immediately triggered. Although the two clicked right away, Love had her own issues and plainly admitted to Joe early in their relationship that his presence made her life more difficult. During the first half of Season 2, it was evident that Love had a deep love for Joe and was concerned about the likelihood of their marriage failing. Joe, on the other hand, had to concentrate on winning the approval of Love’s friends and her errant brother while also negotiating the dark secrets of the siblings and ensuring that Ellie stayed out of danger.

In Season 2, Joe/Will had a lot of problems to deal with. He was juggling a new profession, life in Los Angeles, his developing feelings for Love, and the possibility that Candace might expose him as a killer. The revelation of the actual Will Bettelheim (Robin Lord Taylor), whom Joe had imprisoned in his iconic glass enclosure, confused the Candace plotline further. Joe wasn’t sure what to do with the actual Will at first, but as Season 2 went on, their situation as captor and prisoner quickly evolved into a friendship. Will’s history nevertheless came back to haunt him and Joe when Jasper, a “Russian mafia-chasing wanker,” came to get the $50,000 that Will owed him.
