XCOM 2 is coming to the rescue to cure your quarantine blues with a really exciting offer. The coronavirus pandemic has led to lockdown all over the world. Video games have emerged as a popular and enjoyable way to manage lockdown boredom. Now, developer 2K is making things even easier, offering one of their best games for free.

What’s XCOM 2 About?

This entire trial period is part of 2K’s Give Back Project. If you haven’t ever played an XCOM game, and are wondering what it’s about, here’s how 2K themselves have described it.

“XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, an award-winning strategy game. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces and XCOM, the planet’s last line of defence, was left decimated and scattered. Now aliens rule Earth, promising a brilliant future while secretly hiding a sinister agenda, and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.

Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. As the leader of a guerilla force facing impossible odds, you must find a way for XCOM to rise from the ashes and ignite a global resistance to eliminate the alien threat once and for all.”

Users on Xbox One and Steam have the opportunity to avail this offer. It’s not a permanent offer, though. 2K is only making XCOM 2 free for a limited period of time. This is more or less an extended trial period, rather than a giveaway.

So, how long is this trail period going to run for? 2K made the clarification on their website, where they announced this offer. For Xbox users, this offer started on April 23, 2020, at 12 am PT. It’s going to be available all the way until 11:59 pm PT on April 29, 2020.
