The storyline of the 3rd Season of Altered Carbon is not yet fixed officially but it is expected that the story will be as follows:
In Altered Carbon 3, the story takes place over 360 years. It reveals that in the coming time, memories of person are recorded on a device known as cortical stack. The device is disc shaped. All the memories are implanted at the back of the neck in the vertebrae.
All these devices are of alien design but can only be made from the Harlan World’s material. Synthetic bodies or physical human are known as sleeves. After death stacks are transferred to new bodies. A person can be killed if their entire stack is destroyed and they don’t have any backup. The wealthiest is known as Meths who can change the bodies by clones and remote storage in satellites.
