They are real, and they’re beautiful.
The reason Kim Kardashian lined her hallway with more than twenty evergreen trees may have been to make her feel better, but Reddit didn’t like it.
It was hard to tell real from fake, like a lot of Kardashian stuff. She wrote on Instagram that all of the trees were real and “smell so amazing.”
“Those look like real trees that have been flocked,” someone on Reddit said. “The mixture of paper, cornstarch, and boron is meant to be flame-resistant and look like snow.” To be honest, I think they look tacky, and there are better ways to lower the risk of fire. But if your whole house is covered in them, it might be safer this way. From my point of view, this is still a useless use of these trees.
“Flocked trees can NOT be picked up or taken to greenwaste,” said someone else. Gross to the core.” Kim Kardashian Channels Morticia Addams in a Stunning Sheer Black Lace Gown
Real trees last longer than fake ones, but that benefit is lost when people flock them. One Tree Planted says that a tree grows in seven years and takes in carbon and other pollutants during that time. It does this while using ten times fewer resources than artificial tree farms.
It’s not like real trees; fake trees are made of metal and plastic, which will last for thousands of years. And because 85% of them are made in China, moving them around adds a huge amount of carbon pollution. Kim Kardashian is Investing in a Company That Makes Sauces With Truffles in Them
Children can get lead poisoning, which can hurt their brains and nervous systems in a way that can’t be fixed. A study from 2002 was used by RTK Environmental Group to show that three out of four fake trees had lead in them. This put 50 million American homes at risk.
The r/Anticonsumption crowd didn’t like Kardashian because of her image. She runs companies that greenwash, and her answer to global warming is probably the silliest thing I’ve ever seen: bras with fake nipples so that “no matter how hot it is, you’ll always look cold.”
Another person said, “Just go outside.”
Someone else wrote, “That doesn’t look cozy or holiday at all!” I would have a much nicer house and better Christmas decorations if I had her money.
