The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs athlete was recognized as the league’s ninth-best player and the best tight end in the NFL 100 List, an annual ranking in which professional football players vote on the most talented players among their peers.
“The best tight end in the National Football League,” the Chiefs’ official Instagram account captioned a photo of Kelce, who joined the team in 2013, on Saturday, Aug. 3, celebrating the achievement, which was released a day prior.
The NFL’s blurb about the athlete, which subtly referenced his relationship with girlfriend Taylor Swift, which they made public during the 2023-2024 football season, began, “Kelce reached new heights of popularity in 2023, but that kind of recognition among his peers has been a constant in the Top 100.”
As per the NFL’s write-up, this year is the fourth consecutive year that the New Heights co-host has been recognized as the league’s top tight end.
“A sure-handed model of consistency, Kelce was a force to be reckoned with during Kansas City’s successful run at back-to-back Super Bowls,” the NFL said, adding that the athlete has caught 32 balls for a total of 355 yards and three touchdowns in the past two consecutive Super Bowls (which the Chiefs have won).
The write-up also noted that Kelce is rapidly approaching post-season receiving records with his Super Bowl performances, which have led to three championships for him.
“Kelce, who sits fourth all-time in receiving for TEs, has put together an incredible Hall of Fame career that was once quietly preserved,” the celebratory write-up concluded. “Today, it’s anything but for pop culture’s latest heartthrob.”
Two additional Chiefs players, defensive end Chis Jones (ranked sixth) and quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ranked fourth), were recognized as the top ten players in the NFL’s Top 100.
Recently, Mahomes, 28, and Kelce were both inducted into Madden’s 99 Club, an honor that is bestowed upon players who have achieved a 99 Overall Rating (OVR) in the renowned video game.
The duo’s accomplishment was commemorated by the Chiefs’ Instagram account, which posted a video of both men receiving the custom gifts that are associated with the honor.
“The league’s best duo is in the 99 Club once again! 🎮,” the team captioned the post.
