Upcoming American action drama film Top Gun Maverick directed by Joseph Kosinski is all set to hit the theaters this year. The film’s produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the legend himself Tom Cruise, David Ellison and Christopher McQuarrie. Furthermore, Eric Warren Singer, Ehren Kruger and McQuarrie all three serve as writers for the same.
Sequel?
Back in 1986, Tom Cruise led Top Gun got its release. This movie will serve as a sequel to the 1986 action drama. Directed by Tony Scott, the film received numerous awards including Academy Awards, Golden Globes and a lot more. Furthermore, it became culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant.
1986’s Top Gun had a major pop-culture role too. Consequently, thanks to all this and massive box office collections, a sequel seemed pretty obvious. The sequel was in works since 2010; however, things got a little rough due to Tony’s death in 2012.
But after all the complications, thirty-three years after the first instalment, the sequel is finally ready.
Plot Of Top Gun: Maverick
The film is set more than thirty years after the first one. Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, is doing what he does best, just as sharp as he was in the first movie. Cruise further explained the plot as he stated: “Aviators are back, the need for speed. We’re going to have big, fast machines. It’s going to be a competition film, like the first one, but a progression for Maverick.”
Miles Teller is all set to play the role of Nick aka Goose Bradshaw. Furthermore, Monica Barbaro will be seen as Phoenix, and Manny Jacinto will play Fritz. Glen Powell, Jon Hamm Ed Harris, and requiem of a dream’s Jennifer Connelly are also included.
Early Release?
Initially, the film was supposed to release on the 26th of June 2020, but Paramount announced that the Tom Cruise led movie will hit the theatres two days before. It will now release on the 24th of June 2020. The announcement of this early release was made on Monday.
