Fans of country musician Toby Keith are getting an update from the singer on his most recent health situation.
The singer best known for his hit “Red Solo Cup” revealed on Sunday via Instagram that he was given a diagnosis of stomach cancer in the previous fall.
He described his situation in a message that was published on his social media account, saying, “I’ve spent the last six months receiving chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.” “So far, so good. I require some breathing room as well as time to recover and unwind.”
“I am looking forward to spending this time with my family,” he stated. “I have been anxiously awaiting this opportunity.” “But I won’t keep you waiting too long to see me again, admirers. I simply cannot wait.”
Keith is presently on tour in support of his new album and will be performing on the 17th and 18th of June in Illinois and Michigan, respectively. Regarding the potential alterations that could be made to his tour itinerary, there have been no official announcements made.
Keith, who is now 60 years old, released his first album in five years in October of last year under the title Peso In My Pocket.
During an interview with PEOPLE that took place at the time, Keith stated that he had the inspiration for the songs on the album when he was engaged in his favourite sport, which was running.

The native of Oklahoma has been a champion for cancer patients for a very long time. In 2006, he established the Toby Keith Foundation in order to offer assistance to youngsters who were battling cancer. According to the organization’s website, the OK Kids Korral was opened in 2014 by the foundation. It is described as “a cost-free, convenient, and comfortable home for paediatric cancer patients receiving treatment.”
