The plot of the Eternals is a lot about who they are and their role on earth at the present. The basic plot remains that The Eternals unite to fight off the Deviants who want to destroy the earth.

Who are the Eternals?
A million years ago the Celestials created the two kinds of beings — The Eternals and The Deviants while experimenting on the proto-humans. The Eternals are ancient, wise and powerful. They can bend minds and matters at will. They can channel extremely strong forms of energy which they use when in need. They have always helped ordinary humans, studied and observed them. They have always protected the humans from their malevolent counterparts the Deviants.
The Team of the Eternals include — Ikiris, Thena, Serse, Makkari, Kingo, Ajax, Druid, Gilgamesh and Black Knight.
The Deviants
The deviants were created by the Celestials only. They are the opponents of the Eternals. Deviants are also known as the Changing People. Among them, the most distorted kinds are known as the Mutates.
In different times, the deviants wanted to rule over the earth. Each of these times, the Eternals came forward to protect. Finally, the Eternals put them in a synthetic cube and killed them. Kro is the only one who escaped his fate with the help of Thena, his lover from the Eternals.
The Celestials
The Celestials are the oldest and the most powerful cosmic beings. They existed long before Asgard. They created the sustainers, that is, The Eternals and the destroyer- the Deviants. All of this was a part of their expansive experiment on human life and Civilization. The Dreaming Celestial is worshipped by the Deviants. They believe that the Celestials created them to rule the earth.
The Celestials are more like silent observers from afar. They can watch but never interfere. They instructed the Eternals to do the same. They do not engage in conflicts unless the Deviants are involved.

In this movie for the first time, we have a gay character, and naan is n audibly challenged character along with an international cast. Marvel’s ultimate support played a great deal and this creative freedom is the reason that Zhao could support her vision of the movie.
