Will There Be The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance Season 2?
The designers of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance have expressed interest in extending the Gelfling and Skeksis’ adventures. “If we are lucky enough to have additional seasons then the tale will carry on and we know where it’s heading and it’s maybe more hopeful than you might think,” co-creator Will Matthews told IndieWire in September 2019.
“We also have a concrete document for season two,” said co-creator Jeffrey Addis. So we’re all set to go.” Netflix, on the other hand, was not quite as prepared as the creators. The streaming service revealed that The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance would not be renewed for a second season a year after the interview and the premiere of the series.
Why Did The Dark Crystal Age of Resistance Get Cancelled?
Because of the pandemic, both the television and film industries have experienced production delays and unpredictably changing safety limitations. While coronavirus was not mentioned, it could have had a role in Dark Crystal’s fate.
One of the reasons could be the cost of the series, with 2,500 people working on the first season and presumably a comparable number working on any subsequent seasons, despite the fact that, as many have pointed out, the most of the groundwork for any subsequent seasons had already been put.
