The ongoing midterms election is one of the most expensive till the date. It has been reported that the election has cost over $16 Billion around the country.
According to the recent report by OpenSecrets, the Pennsylvania Senate race was one of the most expensive elections which cost over $370 million, one of the highest numbers till date.
Other than that, the countries which held massive expenses over the election are the Georgia Senate race, Arizona Senate race, Wisconsin Senate race, and Ohio Senate race.
All of these places have cost around $1.3 billion. The number was later confirmed by CNN reports.
As the report came to light people started to look for the number of expanses the party and candidates have spent over the election. The high level of spending is an indication of how the candidates are eager to win over the election. According to the NBC news, the candidates are willing to spend a hefty amount of money.
“No other midterm election has seen as much money at the state and federal levels as the 2022 elections,” OpenSecrets executive director Sheila Krumholz said. “We’re seeing record-breaking totals spent on elections up and down the ballot.”
“When you look at the top 25 individual donors, conservative donors heavily outweigh liberal donors by $200 million,” said Brendan Glavin, a senior data analyst for OpenSecrets. “There’s a big skew.”
One person wrote, “German companies jumped on the bandwagon for the most expensive US midterm election ever, as Bayer, Siemens, Telekom and others were among the donors contributing to the $4.7 billion campaign. The majority of the funds went to President Donald Trump’s Republicans.”
While others wrote, “Political elections were reduced to money games. 2018 elections for Congress topped US$5.7B, shooting past the US$5.3B spent during the then-recording breaking 2008 presidential election and making the battle for control of the House and Senate the most expensive midterm ever.
