Taylor Swift maintains her position at No. 1 on the Billboard Power 100, further challenging established norms. It is not only her inaugural appearance at the top of the list, but also only the second time an artist has been crowned the most influential music industry executives and power players according to Billboard’s annual Power 100 list (Jay-Z and Beyoncé atop the 2014 list, respectively).

Swift has previously debuted at No. 1 on an abundance of Billboard charts, including the Hot Country Songs chart (nine times), the Billboard 200 (twelve times), the Billboard Hot 100 (eleven times), and the Pop Airplay (12 times) charts. She was honored as the Woman of the Decade at Billboard Women in Music 2019. She was designated Woman of the Year at the annual Women in Music event by Billboard twice (in 2014 and 2011).

In the most recent issue of Billboard, Swift provided insight into her astute business acumen and counseled individuals aspiring to emulate her innovative trajectory. Swift told Billboard, “The piece of advice I would give to the other executives on this list is that the best ideas are typically those with no industry precedent.”

“During the most pivotal moments of my professional journey, I made decisions based on my intuition when my ideas encountered skepticism.” It invigorates me when someone asserts, “However, that has never been accomplished successfully before.”

In this industry, strategic risk-taking is an everyday occurrence; however, there are times when you must completely rely on your intuition and execute a daring move. My favorite example of this is in my re-recordings, and I am incredibly appreciative of my team and admirers for accompanying me on that journey; it literally transformed my life.

According to Forbes, Taylor Swift is the Fifth Most Powerful Woman in the World

In her Power 100 entry on Swift, Billboard’s Melinda Newman, executive editor, West Coast and Nashville, notes that in an industry where “metrics and data analysis have largely supplanted intuition,” these words are especially pertinent.
