The Soul is an upcoming fantasy adventure movie. The animated film is directed by Pete Docter and produced by Pixar Animation for Walt Disney Studios.

Plot Of Soul

Disney posted in their official site giving us insight about the movie. According to Disney, the film will take us on a journey from New York City to the never-before-seen cosmic realms and “The You Seminar,” the fantastical place where we all discover our unique personalities.

Soul introduces a middle school band teacher, Joe Gardner, whose real passion is playing jazz. Right when Joe’s dreams where going to be accomplished, an unexpected step sends him to a fantastical place. It separates his Soul from his body.

This forces him to think again about what it truly means to have a soul. That’s where he meets and ultimately teams up with 22. That’s a soul who doesn’t think life on Earth is all it’s cracked up to be.

Soul: Release Date

The official release date of Soul was announced back in last year on June. It’ll be released after Pixar’s March 6 Onward. The Soul will officially hit the theatres on June 19 2020.

The First African American Lead In Pixar Voices By Jamie Foxx

Jamie Fox voices Joe, the middle school teacher who’s passionate to play jazz. It seems like Pixar and Disney are all set to break barriers this year. March 6 releasing Onward will introduce the first-ever superhero in the LGBTQ community, and now Soul will have an African American character as the lead.

Jamie Fox is excited to create history and voice the first-ever African American lead character in Pixar. He wrote on Instagram, “honored to be the first-ever African-American lead in a Pixar film. I cannot wait for you all to see this beautiful story.”

Fox also puts up a tweet expressing his gratitude and says he’s honored to voice such a character. He also adds that it’s a beautiful story and we should watch it.

The studio released the official trailer for the movie on March 12 2020. We get a look at the aspiring jazz musician voiced by Jamie Fox. It also features the voices of Quest love, Phylicia Rashad and Daveed Diggs in different characters. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross composed the movie’s score.
