In an interview with Digital Spy, the official confirmed that the filming will take a while and it will end in February 2023. Plus, the show will go through post-production which will ultimately delay the release date.

Sex Education Season 4 Cast: Who will be in it?
The show won’t remain the same without the involvement of the original cast in the show. With the vibrant, unique, and colorful personalities of these students, the show will go to new places.
Thankfully, the main characters are coming back in the show but at the same time, most of the people are bidding goodbye to their roles. Starting with Asa Butterfield who appeared as Otis Milburn, and Gillian Anderson will be back as his sex therapist mother, Dr. Jean Milburn. These two have been playing their significant role since the first season and there is no doubt that they won’t be coming back.
Coming next, is Ncuti Gatwa will be back as Otis’s best friend Eric Effiong. And Emma Mackey as Maeve Wiley.
Other cast includes Adam Groff (Connor Swindells), Aimee Gibbs (Aimee-Lou Wood), Jackson Marchetti (Kedar Williams-Stirling), Cal Bowman (Dua Saleh), Ruby Matthews (Mimi Keene), Viv Odusanya (Chinenye Ezeudu), Isaac Goodwin (George Robinson), Michael Groff (Alistair Petrie), and Maureen Groff (Samantha Spiro).
Along with them, there will be some new faces, including Dan Levy as Thomas Molloy, who will become Maeve’s mentor while she studies in the States. Doctor Who’s Thaddea Graham will also be in the show but her role is not confirmed by the officials.

Simone Ashley, who has already appeared in Bridgerton, will not be coming as Olivia Hanan because she is already preparing for the third season of the Bridgerton series. The actress has confirmed that she is excited about the season and will be featuring back s, Kate Sharma.
Along with this, two more characters confirmed that they won’t be featuring in the show Patricia Allison, Ola Nyman, Otis’s ex-girlfriend, and his step-sibling.
She said in an interview. “I have loved being on Sex Education so, so much, and playing Ola. But unfortunately, I won’t be joining the team for season four.”
She was already aspiring to be in the show but it seems like there is some new opportunity knocking at her door and she will be getting back to work.
“Some other opportunities have come up,” the star teased (possibly referring to the upcoming superhero show Extraordinary). “So, I’ve been doing it for three years and I’ve genuinely loved it.”
Moreover, more characters confirmed their farewell to the show’s future which includes, including Tanya Reynolds who appeared as Lily Iglehart, Ola’s girlfriend.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, she said, “Lily is not coming back either. I think that for Lily, her storyline was just wrapped up quite nicely at the end of season three. So she’s got no loose ends to tie up, she had quite a happy ending.
“At the end of last season, everyone kind of gets scattered, and I think that’s just a good opportunity to bring in some new characters.
“I absolutely will miss [her]. I love, love Lily with my whole being and I had the best time in those three seasons, and I will miss it for sure.
“I will miss Lily, and I will miss the gang. But it just kind of feels very right. It feels like time. It felt like it was my time.”
Rakhee Thakrar appeared as Emily Sands, the beloved English teacher in the show, and confirmed that she will not be back. The actress hinted that she has some new projects to focus on.
The actress also added that she won’t be able to share the main reason for leaving the shop yet but whatever she has done in the show, makes her proud. Other than her, Jim Howick, Colin Hendricks, who appeared as Emily’s Boyfriend and the Science and Math teacher of the school also confirmed that he won’t be joining the cast of the fourth season. He confirmed that he had not received any call from the showrunner and he is still waiting for whether the character is coming back or not.
In an interview with Digital Spy, the character added, “I’ll probably find out soon, and I’m pretty sure I am, I would know if I wasn’t. I think I’m probably in it, but probably in the second block, and that films until February. So we’ve got ages to go. I don’t want to say anything for definite because, in these situations, you just don’t know obviously.”
