In addition to his own independent musical and business endeavors, Sean John Combs, better known by his stage name P. Diddy, is best recognized for his record company Bad Boy Entertainment.
Diddy has been among the highest-paid and wealthiest entertainers in the world for more than 20 years. He makes between $50 and $100 million in a given recent year. His vast economic empire, which includes interests in companies like Ciroq vodka and music royalties, has brought in well over $1 billion between 2000 and 2020. Additionally, he has stock in DeLeon tequila and the Aquahydrate brand of alkaline water.
Early years and professional beginnings
On November 4, 1969, Sean John Combs was born in Harlem, New York City. When Combs was two years old, his father was shot to death as he was in his automobile on Central Park West, and Combs was reared in Mount Vernon, New York. In 1987, Combs received his diploma from the Mouth Saint Michael Academy. After that, he studied business at Howard University, but he quit after his sophomore year.
He obtained an internship at Uptown Records in New York, where he later rose to the position of talent director. He assisted in the growth of musicians like Jodeci and Mary J. Blige while at Uptown. Combs founded his own company, Bad Boy Entertainment, as a joint venture with Arista Records after being sacked from Uptown in 1993.
Work in Music
The Notorious B.I.G., also known as Biggie Smalls, was an up-and-coming talent when Combs left Uptown. Bad Boy released smash singles from The Notorious B.I.G. and Craig Mack, and Combs swiftly signed more artists like Carl Thomas, Faith Evans, 112, Total, and Father MC. Additionally, he established an internal production group called The Hitmen, which collaborated with musicians including Jodeci, Usher, Lil’ Kim, TLC, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men, and Aretha Franklin. On the West Coast in the middle of the 1990s, a highly publicized rivalry developed between Death Row Records and Bad Boy. Combs has experienced a prosperous solo music career as a recording artist in addition to his successful careers as a record executive and producer. In 1997, Combs cut his first professionally produced rap song under the alias Puff Daddy. In July 2017, he released “No Way Out,” his debut studio album. Combs cannot use the moniker “Diddy” in the UK, hence he is still referred to as “P. Diddy” there. Dearlove agreed an out-of-court settlement of £10,000 in damages and more than £100,000 in expenses.

Combs has had a successful acting career in addition to his music career. He has acted in movies like “Draft Day” (2014) and “The Defiant Ones” as well as “Made” (2001), “A Raisin in the Sun” (2008), “Get Him to the Greek” (2010), and “Made” (2017). In addition to serving as executive producer of the MTV reality series “Making the Band” from 2002 to 2009, he also had a brief run on VH1’s “I Want to Work for Diddy” in 2008.
Combs is a prosperous businessman as well. In 1998, he launched the apparel label “Sean John,” which in 2004 took home the CFDA award for Menswear Designer of the Year. Individual Life
Six children were born to Combs. Misa Hylton-Brim, a fashion designer, gave birth to his first biological child in 1993. From 1994 to 2007, he had an intermittent relationship with Kimberly Porter. They had twin daughters and a son together, and Combs also took in Porter’s child from a prior relationship. In November 2018, Porter succumbed to pneumonia. Additionally, Combs and Sarah Chapman share a daughter, for whom he assumed parental responsibility in October 2007. He purchased a house in Alpine, New Jersey, for $7 million.
Combs has encountered the law on numerous occasions. When Jennifer Lopez and I were out at Manhattan’s Club New York in December 1999, a shooting broke out. Following a police investigation for firearms offenses, Combs and fellow rapper Shyne were taken into custody. Following a highly publicized trial, Combs was eventually charged with four weapons-related offenses and receiving a bribe from his driver to claim ownership of a gun. In Florida in 2001, he was also detained for operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Actual Estate
Diddy spent $2.45 million on an East Hampton residence in 1998. He would host his infamous White Party here. He occasionally charged up to $200,000 a month to rent this house. For $4.7 million, he sold this house in 2020.
A 3.5-acre mansion in Alpine, New Jersey, was purchased by Diddy for $4 million in 2004. He put this house on the market in 2007 for $9 million, but no one bought it. In 2016, he ultimately sold this home for $5.5 million.
Diddy purchased a 17,000 square foot property in the upscale LA area of Holmby Hills for $39 million in September 2014. Developer Nile Niami constructed the house as needed. In the pool in Diddy’s Beverly Hills estate, there is an underwater tunnel that leads to a grotto. A 35-seat movie theater, a steam room, a massage room, a beauty salon, and a wine room are all included. The Playboy Mansion is not far from the residence.
Diddy, who had several children with Kim Porter, paid $5.25 million for a house for her in 2009. Kim tragically passed away in 2018. This house is still owned by Diddy.
Gloria and Emilio Estefan were selling a house on Miami’s Star Island, and Diddy purchased it for $35 million in August 2021. The house features a 1.3-acre lot with 240 feet of waterfront.
