Fans of the latter series, Rent-A-Girlfriend, have known for some time that season 2 would be released this year, but we can now provide you with the most up-to-date information on when it will be available in theatres throughout the world.
Rent A Girlfriend Season 2 Announcement
Several minutes after the season one finale aired on Crunchyroll in September 2020, the show’s creators announced that Rent-A-Girfriend would return for a second season.
The news of Kazuya and Chizuru’s second date, on the other hand, came as little surprise. While the news of their renewal was warmly received, not many of us were startled by the news of their second date.
Two variables often influence the decision on whether to continue producing an anime series: the overall success of the anime series and the availability of source material.
Unfortunately, Crunchyroll does not provide official audience data for the anime titles that are simulcast on their platform. Although it was only shown for one season, Rent-A-Girlfriend season 1 was very popular around the world, garnering scores of 7.25 out of 10 on IMDB, 4.4 out of 5 on Crunchyroll, and 7.26 out of 10 on MyAnimeList, with the latter boasting more than 467,000 subscribers!
On the other hand, there is the point of view that the original Rent A Girlfriend manga series is still running, implying that there is enough of source material still to adapt for the anime broadcast. As reported by Anime Geek, the first season of the anime came to an abrupt halt at the sixth volume, chapter 49 of the original series.
Fortunately for enthusiasts, as of March 2022, 25 volumes including 227 chapters had been published in Japan — with 11 of those volumes being available for translation into English. Not only will there be a second anime broadcast, but there is also enough source material for up to four seasons of the show!
Now, we’ve reached the most significant component of Rent-A-return: Girlfriend’s the date on which season 2 will be made available on the internet.
Rent A Girlfriend Season 2: Release Date
Season 1 of the popular anime series came to a close in September 2020, and it was announced in the renewal announcement that the series would return in 2022.
It was then formally confirmed by the Rent-A-Girlfriend Japanese website on January 14, 2022, that season 2 of the show would launch in July of that year.
The launch date for season 2 episode 1 has not yet been announced, however it is scheduled to air on either Saturday, July 2nd or Saturday, July 9th — in accordance with the programming block that was established in season 1.
Crunchyroll, which already showed the first season of the series in 2020, is anticipated to simulcast the series for the second time.
