By

David Mudd

Naruto is a household name at this point. And so is the word Tailed Beast. Even people who might not have heard the word “Anime” in their entire lives have heard about Naruto. It is just that damn famous. Naruto is the childhood anime for most of us. We might not have watched anything else, but we sure as hell have watched Naruto, and that’s on period. Naruto has been dubbed in numerous languages all over the world for the local audiences and has generally received overwhelming love from whoever has been following the series.

Still, for those between us who haven’t heard of the show, Naruto is a Manga that has also been adapted into an Anime that focuses on the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a boy from a small village. Naruto is a naughty young ninja full of mischief, one who seeks validation of those around him, and one day aims to become the Hokage. Hokage is the leader of the village in the hit series.

The Tailed Beasts

So now that we have talked about Naruto and given a brief introduction to the series, it is time to get on to the main topic at hand today. That is, the tailed beasts in Naruto. These tailed beasts that we talk about, they are some of the strongest characters in Naruto. And it is up to our junior Ninja to deal with them, in any manner necessary. The Naruto series may feature plenty of other powerful characters- from powerful ninjas to jutsus. Still though, none are as powerful as the Tailed Beasts. These Tailed Beasts were created by the Sage of Six Paths himself.  They are also known as the Chakra Beasts, although that is the slang term for them. This is so because they are massive lifeforms from chakra, who can deal massive damage and possess enormous power under their huge torso.

And the best part is their character development. They are not just simply beasts who would kill everyone and everything they see. They all have their own unique personalities, and have from time to time, been placed in humans, just to be later extracted for power play.

Today it is these Tailed Beasts or Chakra Beasts we are going to talk about. And we are going to rank them on the basis of their power. Also, we’ll be discussing each one of them in brief.

Tailed Beast No. 9: Shukaku

Shukaku
Tailed Beast #9: Shukaku

While some Naruto fans may disagree, given the advanced abilities Shukaku possesses, we rank this beast #9.

He is one of the Tailed Beasts who lives inside of Gaara. He was also one of the initial tailed beasts the popular anime series introduced, apart from Kurama. Shukaku is considered the weakest tailed beast out of them all, despite his advanced abilities. His child like personality certainly adds to the charm. Infact, Shukaku is on of the contributors to Gaara’s Ultimate Defense

Tailed Beast No. 8: Matatabi

Tailed Beast Matatabi
Tailed Beast #8 Matatabi

Matatabi is yet another tailed beast from Naruto that ranks pretty low on the list. We rank her a well deserved #8.

We are introduced to Matatabi inside the dead and very well hidden cloud village kunoichi, Yugito Nii. One of her signature powers is Fire Release, which is really special as she can even give her own power to other beasts.

Another one of her abilities is her insanely fast speed. She is the fastest out of all the tailed beasts and almost no human has ever been able to catch her ever. Matatabi was ultimately captured though, but it wasn’t an easy task. She can also fuse with other beasts as one of her abilities, and able to crush a full Susanoo.

Given all this, we think it is only well deserved that Matatabi gets the 8th position on this list.

Tailed Beast No. 7: Chomei

Tailed Beast Chomei
Tailed Beast #7 Chomei

At our #7 spot, we have Chomei, another Tailed Beast that gets a mid-low ranking on the list.

We are introduced to Chomei as we find it living inside of the waterfall hidden deceased village kunoichi, going by the name of Fu. We come to know that the two, Chomei and Fu were the best of friends before her death.

Chomei has a number of abilities. By the use of its wings, Chomei can create mists that obscure everything in view and create a cocoon as well.

The cocoon that Chomei creates, can block Chakra Absorption Jutsu. Based on insects, Chomei’s jutsu gives it a durability like none other owing to its more number of tails, as it is a seven tailed beast and hence makes it a hardy tailed beast.

Although Chomei’s signature ability remains its ability to fly, as it can cause a lot of damage and can stop its opponents from the air, making it one tough tailed beast to conquer.

Although some fans may disagree with this, because according to them, besides its flying ability, Chomei is just feet fodder.

Tailed Beast No. 6: Saiken

Tailed Beast Saiken
Tailed Beast #6 Saiken

At our #6 spot, we have Saiken, which again is rightly deserved owing to its marvelous abilities.

Saiken is a strange beast, as it is found hidden inside a dead ninja. It is found inside the body of the Hidden Mist Ninja, Utakata. Saiken possesses a number of abilities.

Saiken by its very own nature is a slug, and not a very beautiful one. The name beast suits him rightly. His abilities include Water Release. Another speciality that Saiken possesses is the ability to share his chakra with the other Tailed Beasts, giving the term Chakra Beasts another meaning altogether.

Saiken is a beast in the battle, as it can trap its enemies by using water release to create a starch syrup capturing field. It is also a hardy one as it can take some blows. Saiken can withstand being thrown around like hell by the other tailed beasts, which is one ability other beasts with less tails do not share. As a six tailed beast, it is miraculous how it survived being thrown by Kurama and was just okay afterwards.

Its weaknesses include its speed as it can be quite a slow beast given that it is a slug. The acid and Bijuu bomb are its strengths. And hence it gets our mid spot at #6.

Tailed Beast No. 5: Isobu

Tailed Beast Isobu
Tailed Beast #5 Isobu

Many of our Naruto fans here might be wondering why we have given Isobu such a high rank. But hear us out. Given the space time ninjutsu that Isobu does, which also allows him to stay concealed as long as he does not move, is a winner in our opinion.

Isobu is a three tailed beast who we discover was living inside the dead Four Mizukage, Yagura Karatachi. Isobu is a mystery in himself as he became fast friends with the dead Yagura when he was alive.

Its power is showcased as it is able to defeat all its enemies with the sea coral ability as well as his ability to swim faster than anything. It’s a different situation for Isobu, akin to a crocodile, as in the water, Isobu would surely win the battle, but being on the ground is a very different story that does not turn out well for him.

He is also involved with going up against Bee and Naruto, and that secures him the #5 spot on our list today.

Tailed Beast No. 4: Son Goku

Tailed Beast Son Goku
Tailed Beast #4 Son Goku

Now we are getting towards the top of our list and the characters or beasts just keep getting stronger and stronger. We can certainly feel the heat with this one. At our #4 spot, we have Son Goku. While many may have him a bit lower down the list, we think he deserves this spot.

We meet Son Goku as we discover that he has been residing inside of the now deceased Hidden Stone Village Ninja who goes by the name of Roshi.

Son Goku is one of the most interesting beasts in the series, with its monkey like form and immense strength. What makes him unique from other tailed beasts is that he knew how to use taijutsu well, in addition to his humongous strength. It is considered that Son Goku is based off of the Monkey King from Journey to the West.

And not just that, Son Goku has even been able to create a Tailed Beast Bomb, which makes him highly interesting.

Tailed Beast No. 3: Kokuo

Tailed Beast Kokuo
Tailed Beast #9 Kokuo

Things have heated up and now we are up to our #3 spot, where we are going to talk about the legendary Kokuo. This is a well deserved spot for the beast and we think no one would like to disagree on that. In fact, we might just be underrating it.

A five tailed beast, Kukuo is found residing inside of the deceased Hidden Stone Village Ninja, Han. Kokuo is a very smart and peace loving beast as towards the end of the infamous Ninja War, it decided to go live in peace, away from everything, in a forest, where no one would fight him. He is considered the physically strongest tailed beast as he was able to knock down Naruto and Bee with subtle ease. The reason for his hardiness and strength is due to the boil release which is like an amplifier for its attacks and gives him that edge that puts him apart from others.

Kokuo can use its horn to jam into its foes as well as other Jutsu to defeat its opponents or any who stand in the way. One unique thing it does is heat up its own chakra to scald others and  put himself above them giving him the edge.

As such, Kokuo gets the #3 spot on our list.

Tailed Beast No. 2: Gyuki

Tailed Beast Gyuki
Tailed Beast #2 Gyuki

At our #2 spot, not much debate remains as to who should occupy this spot. Naruto fans would know why. It is simply no competition and a lot does not need to be said. So we have Gyuki today our second spot on the list.

Gyuki is the Eight Tailed Beast who has been found living inside of Killer B. It is easily the second most strongest Tailed Beast.  It possess weird octopus tails that it uses to deal damage to its enemies. Although not very pretty, they are highly effective in their damage. In addition to this, the Eight Tailed beast can easily dispel Killer B’s chakra and and can remove and genjutsu, just remaining short of Infinite Tsukuyomi.

We get to see a spectacle of strength of Gyuki when Sasuka had to fight against B and in the fight, with not much effort, it was easily able to dispel Amaterasu with its very bare fists. If that isn’t enough, Gyuki took on two different Tailed Beasts on together with east and defeated them, not putting in any effort. It also tends to share a lot with Kurama.

It was said to be stronger than half of Kurama before KCM. And it is also thought it could equally match half of Kurama with ease. And it also took a laser DAMA from Juubi.

Tailed Beast No. 1: Kurama

Tailed Beast Kurama
The legendary Tailed Beast Kurama

Any Naruto fan knew that this was coming. There is simply no comparison, no character, no beast, no nothing that can stand up to this monstrosity. As such, he secures the top spot on our list of Tailed Beasts today, defeating all others.

Kurama is the Nine Tailed Beast. He is the beast that resides inside of our very own beloved Naruto. He is feared throughout the land as he destroyed the Hidden Leaf Village like it was a pile of leaves. Also owing to the terror is the fact that he is the strongest of them all.

In fact, Kurama is so powerful, that he can kill others with the touch of a single fingernail. In addition to that, he can create not one, but a barrage of Tailed Beast Bombs. These Bombs can cause unspeakable destruction with an effort that may not even be considered effort. He is also the reason Naruto is feared because he is the strongest Tailed Beast. And fittingly so, Naruto is the strongest Jinchuriki.

Kurama can defeat moon golems, and turn the world into ash. And he is also the most intelligent. That’s ’nuff said about him in my opinion.

Kurama tops our list of Tailed Beasts in Naruto.
