Raising Dion Season 2: What Is It All About?

By

David Mudd

One of Netflix’s numerous binge-worthy sci-fi options is Raising Dion Season 2. The series follows single mom Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja’Siah Young) as they struggle with the death of Dion’s father, Mark, and is based on the comic book and short film of the same name by Dennis Liu (Michael B. Jordan). When Dion begins to display supernatural abilities, ranging from the Matilda-like ability to float his cereal to the ability to teleport out of dangerous circumstances. An already tricky position becomes insurmountable. Nicole, like any good “weird powers arise out of nowhere” story (see: NBC’s Heroes or even Netflix’s Stranger Things). I must shield Dion from potentially dangerous scenarios, such as unusual foes or agencies trying to explore his skills.

Raising Dion Season 2

The first season of Raising Dion premiered on Netflix in October 2019. It left a few cliffhangers that beg for a second season. Here’s all we’ve figured out regarding the show’s future.

When Will Raising Dion Season 2 Premiere?

Raising Dion is set to return to Netflix on February 1, 2022, so be ready for a fantastic winter. Season 1 premiered in the fall of 2019. Thus fans of the show have had to wait a long time for fresh episodes. Despite the fact that the program was renewed in January 2020, the epidemic caused delays in the series’ production.

Is There a Trailer for Raising Dion Season 2?

Yes! Just a few weeks before the program’s launch. Netflix released a teaser, and it looks like the show is ramping up the intensity from Season 1. The Crooked Man refuses to be defeated by Dion and enlists the aid of another boy. Griffin Robert Faulkner’s Brayden, to “kill him.” Although Brayden has been creepy this season. It appears like Dion is gaining a better understanding of his skills in preparation to take him on. Now that he’s been looped into whatever hazardous scheme is forming. Fans will be thrilled to learn that. There’s a sneak peek of some gravity-defying acrobatics and his ability to manipulate the environment, as well as a glimpse of his new trainer (Rome Flynn).

How Many Episodes Will There Be in the Raising Dion Season 2?

With the announcement that the series has been renewed for Raising Dion Season 2, Variety announced that the next edition would consist of eight episodes. Unfortunately, this is one episode less than the nine episodes from the first season, but we’ll take what we can get. They’ll most likely be just as jam-packed with benign sci-fi shenanigans from the titular, burgeoning superhuman, if not more so.

Who Will Be Back in Raising Dion Season 2?

Without the main character and his mother, Raising Dion wouldn’t be Raising Dion Season 2. Thus Ja’Siah Young, who portrays Dion, and Alisha Wainwright, who plays Nicole, will undoubtedly return. Kat (Jazmyn Simon) and Esperanza (Sammi Haney) have both been confirmed for Raising Dion Season 2. Given that Dion’s father, Mark, is still alive, we may see more of Michael B. Jordan on film. In terms of the rest of the cast, we’ll be seeing more of Suzanne Wu, the head of BIONA. Since Ali Ahn, who portrays her, was promoted to a regular series in February, according to Deadline.

Griffin Robert Faulkner, who plays Brayden, a second-generation super like Dion, is in the same boat. Since a storm-like creature possessed Brayden after Pat (who disguised his name for nine episodes) was vanquished. It’s only natural that he’ll play a more significant role in the upcoming episodes. It hasn’t been established if Jason Ritter, who portrays Pat, will feature in the film. However, with the series’ renewal, the actor took to Twitter to express his delight for Raising Dion Season 2, so we may see him again.

Is There Anyone New in the Cast?

Netflix revealed a slew of new cast members in February 2021. One of the latest additions is Rome Flynn of How To Get Away With Murder fame, who will play Tevin Wakefield, a former Olympic track coach who will serve as “Dion’s trainer and mentor.” He’s rumored to get close to Dion and Nicole, so expect to see him a lot next season.

With the new character Janelle Carr, portrayed by Aubriana Davis, it also seems like another excellent youngster is heading to town (Genius: Aretha). According to Netflix, the 15-year-mother old’s Simone (played by another newbie, Sweet Magnolia’s Tracey Bonner) sent her to BIONA seeking answers after she was dubbed “destructive and dangerous.” The Warren family is known to have a strong relationship with the teen.

Because it appears like we’ll be spending a lot more time at BIONA, the series has added Josh Ventura (P-Valley) to the cast as David Marsh, the research facility’s new V.P. of Operations. He has a personal history with Suzanne Wu.

What About the Creators of the Shows?

When the show was renewed in early 2020, Variety revealed that the same people that worked on Season 1 would be back for Raising Dion Season 2. Carol Barbee will return as showrunner, and while it’s uncertain if we’ll see Michael B. Jordan onscreen, he will undoubtedly be executive producing behind the scenes. Kenny Goodman, Kim Roth, Dennis Liu, and Charles D. King are also included.

What Is Season 2’s Plot?

After Nicole, Dion, and BIONA disintegrated Pat in the Season 1 finale, the Crooked Man’s pursuit of Dion and other supers was put on hold. However, the cliffhanger conclusion of the finale showed that the stormy entity succeeded in inhabiting Brayden, the son of one of the Crooked Man’s absorbed superpowered men. This sets the stage for a Raising Dion Season 2 showdown between Dion and Brayden, focusing on the second generation of exceptional kids. According to Netflix’s official logline, the escalating tension between them will undoubtedly be at the forefront of the season.

They may not have to fight right now. It’s set two years after the events of Season 1, and Dion is believed to befriend Brayden while training with a new trainer named Tevin. “A sequence of disturbing occurrences follow, and Dion discovers that danger is still lurking,” says Dion once they connect. It’s unknown what the threat is, but it appears to be more severe than in Season 1, since Dion and his mother are tasked with defending the whole city of Atlanta. The looming threat likely holds answers to the fates of those consumed by the Crooked Man, including Dion’s father, Mark.

We witnessed his ghost momentarily become tangible at the Season 1 finale, allowing him to interact with Nicole and Dion before fading away. Mark isn’t quite alive, but he’s also not quite dead, which means his fate is still unknown. Season 2 might be devoted to bringing Mark and those who were consumed by the Crooked Man back to life and whose spirits were liberated after his dissolution.
