Have you heard the Ton’s speech? It’s absolutely flawless, my dear, and it’s definitely not rumours from Lady Whistledown’s social pamphlets. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a new limited prequel series centred on the early life of Queen Charlotte, will premiere on Netflix and Shondaland in May 2021, according to Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story creator and showrunner Shonda Rhimes.

According to the Netflix companion website Tudum, the spinoff will be “all about Queen Charlotte’s origin tale, including her marriage to King George and the great love story — and cultural transformation — that follows.”

In Bridgerton’s first two seasons, we’ve seen snippets of Queen Charlotte’s life, including the state of her marriage to King George and her participation in Regency-era London’s social season. However, this series goes a step further by investigating her unexpected accession to the throne in the early 1760s.

You can’t help but be curious about Queen Charlotte and her history when you first see her in the “Bridgerton” realm. So looking into her past seemed logical,” one Netflix executive told Variety. They continue, “It genuinely is amazing, and it will live up to your expectations.”

Previously, on September 23, 2022, a picture of India Amarteifio as Queen Charlotte was posted on the official Bridgerton Instagram account. This post also revealed the series’ title. Fans were reassured in the message that the spin-off was imminent.

Are There Any Images From Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story?

Yes! Netflix has released a few first-look pictures from the new season in addition to the teaser trailer. The pictures show us some of our favourite Bridgerton characters, including Queen Charlotte, as they were when they were younger.

Another image from the collection shows actress Arsema Thomas as young Lady Agatha Danbury. The character is described as having “a keen awareness of the previously divided social scene and the complications of marriage,” per The Hollywood Reporter, on Netflix. Agatha also “finds her own voice and authority,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In a series of paparazzi images from the set that were published by Daily Mail in April of last year, Golda Rosheuvel as Queen Charlotte can be seen riding in the rear of a horse-drawn carriage while dressed entirely in black and sporting a grey wig.

Hugh Sachs’ Brimsley can be seen in a few of the pictures, marching in a column with the royal guard. The publication speculated that the show was filming a funeral scene based on the formality and solemnity of the scene, in which extras bowed before Queen Charlotte’s carriage as it passed. Netflix released a cast announcement on March 30, 2022. The young Queen Charlotte is portrayed by India Amarteifio, who played Lizzie in Sex Education. According to Tudum, she “learns to navigate royal life after finding herself wedded to the King of England against her choice.” The young King George, who is characterised as “handsome, charming, and a bit of a mystery,” is portrayed by Corey Mylchreest opposite India.

Young Violet Ledger, the daughter of Vivian and Lord Ledger, will be portrayed by Connie Jenkins-Greig, according to Deadline. She will be described as a “kind and inquisitive youngster who has not yet entered the marriage mart… or famously become a Bridgerton.” She will appear repeatedly in the spin-off series, claims the source.

Michelle Fairley, who played Catelyn Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, is one of the other cast members. “A royal willing to do everything it takes to maintain her family’s dominance,” is how she describes Princess Augusta. Sounds dramatic!

Similar to her part in the original series, Arsema Thomas portrays the young Lady Danbury, who is the queen’s devoted confidante.

Furthermore, you didn’t believe Shonda would overlook Brimsley, did you? The young version of the queen’s r man is played by Sam Clemmett. Richard Cunningham, who plays Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim, who plays Adolphus, Rob Maloney, who plays the Royal Doctor, and Cyril Nri, who plays Lord Danbury, are all included in the cast.

Yes! Adjoa Andoh will resume her role as the brash Lady Danbury, and Golda Rosheuvel will return as the legendary Queen Charlotte. What Do We Understand About Filmmaking?

On August 30, 2022, director and producer of Bridgerton Tom Verica announced via Twitter that season 1 of the Queen Charlotte spinoff had completely finished filming.

“That wraps it up. Just wait,” he commented about this show, its cast, and staff. We can only hope that a release date will be revealed soon, since Screen Rant adds that post-production for Netflix shows can take months to a year depending on how heavily VFX-heavy the show is.

On March 30, 2022, Netflix initially declared that the prequel was formally in progress. Images from a cast table read, in which actors India Amarteifio (as the young Queen Charlotte), Corey Mylchreest (as the young King George), and others assume their roles, were posted on Tudum.

Photos from the table read, including one of the script cover, were also shared on the Shondaland Instagram and Twitter accounts. The project is still nameless, but the first episode is titled “Queen to Be,” according to the shot. How fitting.
