Why Did James Gunn Want To Make A Spin-off Series Peacemaker?

In response to why he chose to make the Peacemaker series, James Gunn said “Peacemaker is not an evil person, he is just a bad guy. He seems sort of irredeemable in the film. But I think that there’s more to him. We didn’t get a chance to know him in ‘The Suicide Squad’ in a way we get to know some of the other characters. And so that’s what the whole show is about.”

This statement perfectly explains the reasons, isn’t it? Infact, Gunn wrote all the episodes for Peacemaker while he was completing work on the movie. And finally, HBO Max in the month of September, 2020 announced the series. He also directed five of the episodes.
