Patti LuPone blazoned her withdrawal from Broadway and the Actors’ Equity Association this week, important to the shock and surprise of everyone.

 The Broadway legend wrote on Twitter on Monday, “ Quite a week on Broadway, seeing my name being mooted about. Gave up my Equity card; no longer part of that circus. Figure it out. ”

While her suckers were left stumped over the advertisement, LuPone latterly explained to People what urged her abrupt decision to leave what she’s dubbed the “ worst union ” after five decades as a due- paying member.

“ They accepted my abdication and told me that if I ever wanted to return, I’d have to be approved, ” she explained to the outlet. “ And it’s the perfect reason I withdrew from Equity.
