The year 2020 started off well.
Crunchyroll released a list of its in-house animated series in February.
And then came the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks to that, “Work from Home” has become the next big thing.
This pandemic has allowed me to have some enjoyment while working.
And by enjoyment, I mean watching anime. I love every anime I’ve watched to date.
Now, the next anime on my watchlist is Onyx Equinox. Do you know anything about this anime?
If not, you’re in the right place.
Talking about the anime, it’s an Original.
And by original I meant, it’s not adopted from a manga or a webtoon.
As a matter of fact, Sofia Alexander (also the executive producer) took 13 freaking years in creating & illustrating this anime.
That’s amazing. isn’t it?
To make sure, you stay vested in this anticipated anime, I would like to tell you it’s plot summary.
Let’s get straight to it:
Onyx Equinox Plot Summary
Set in a populated area of Mesoamerica, Onyx Equinox tells the story of a young Aztec boy named Izel. To save the world from an imminent apocalypse, he decided to take up the old of the Champion of Humanity.
Wait…right there. What’s happening to the world? Why Izel is the only one?
How it all started?
Well, let me take you to ancient times.
A time when man-eating supernatural beasts & Evil Gods could roam freely on Earth. The creatures hated humans & it was all apparent as they can always be seen causing havoc among humans.
And then came ‘A Bet’.
A bet between the gods tasked a human in closing the 5 gates connecting the human world.
Only the outcome of this bet will determine whether humanity deserves life & starvation.
And to complete this bet, Izel is handpicked by the gods as humanity’s representative.
So, to complete the mission, he’s forced to accept & use the magical dagger. And hence became champion of humanity.

Onyx Equinox Release Date
Now, comes the most important question – When it’s releasing?
As I said earlier, Crunchyroll released their summer lineup in Feb. 2020.
And in that, announcement, Onyx Equinox was included. However, looking at the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, they had to postpone the anime to the Fall line-up.
All in all, Crunchyroll will air this anime on November 21 of 2020.
And as for the availability, you can watch it in Brazillian, Spanish, French, German, & Portuguese. So, watch it as per your preferences.
