The ‘Wayne Brady: The Family Remix’ actor made their initial introductions to each other, son and daughter.
Wayne Brady is relishing his role as a father.
Viewers watch the 52-year-old Let’s Make a Deal presenter, who recently became a father again to his son Val Henry, as he navigates fatherhood in episode 3 of his new Freeform reality show Wayne Brady: The Family Remix.
Brady’s ex-girlfriend and Val’s mother Tina leaves the infant with his father and his elder half-sister, 21-year-old Mađle Masako Brady, while she conducts errands at the start of the scene.
Brady’s adult daughter Maile was born to his first wife, Mandie Taketa.
“Hey, how you doin’ Mr. Val?” Wayne playfully says to his baby boy.
“I know I’m not your mom and I don’t have any movies and I smell different, but you got me. I mean, this is it. You like the new place? You could come here and stay if you want to,” he continues.
Mađle has already expressed her dislike for both Tina and Val. She does, nonetheless, wish that Wayne and Val’s relationship “don’t get in the way” of her love for Tina.
Then, when Maīle meets and holds Val, she sets aside her emotions. The older sister’s attitude changes as a result of the exchange.
“It feels really amazing to meet Val. He’s so cute. He’s beautiful. Yeah, I don’t feel the need to have a relationship with Tina to have a relationship with Dad or Val,” Maīle says during the episode.
Wayne admits that he was nervous about having his blended family meet.
“I didn’t know what this moment would [be] like. I didn’t know how you would respond to him,” he tells his daughter. “Even Tina coming over today — I was freaking out about that moment. I haven’t slept since 3 o’clock this morning, so all of this is amazing.”
Speaking in late July, Wayne opened up about how he was “shocked” to learn that his on-again-off-again ex Tina had become pregnant when the former couple dated during the pandemic.
“I was shocked,” he said. “I asked the silly question that I think many men since the beginning of time have asked. “’How?’ You know how! So get past it.”
Wayne called the infant child Val after his lately deceased grandma Valerie.
“I never want Val to grow up thinking that he should be ashamed or look back and go, ‘Oh, my dad didn’t want me, or he was ashamed of me.’ Because I want him, in his own way, to know that I love him as much as I love Maīle, who is of me and that I had a part in creating,” he told. “So I had to do that work.”
