Attention gamers! After a long lingering wait, the Oddworld gamers would be getting a new treat as the Oddworld: Soulstorm returns. Oddworld: Soulstorm is finally out, and we can leap right into the vibrant world of the Mudokons.
We last saw Abe, the lovable lead from the Oddworld series 7 long years ago, but finally Oddworld: Soulstorm is out and the return of Abe is a welcome thing.
Oddworld: Soulstorm’s arrival is a pleasant change after first being revealed in 2016.
Due to the extreme popularity of the reboot Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, creator Oddworld Inhabitants was able to increase the budget and scale of this installment, which comes at the beginning of a new console cycle following several setbacks.
There’s also the extra pressure of Lorne Lanning’s aspirations for a five-part series riding on the popularity of Oddworld: Soulstorm.
Oddworld: Soulstorm Storyline
For those who were oblivious to the existence of this spectacular game or just curious pals who want to know about the fabulous game, it is essentially a 2.5D puzzle platformer in which the Protagonist Abe and his fellow Mudokons try to flee from the greedy Glukons who are attempting to subjugate or reduce them into their food.
Soulstorm is a dream come true for the Oddworld fans. It’s a brand-new game. It’s a fabulous attempt to create a bleaker, more fundamentally disturbing second episode of Abe’s tale that was envisioned previously years ago. After the events of Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty, Abe follows his destiny to save his fellow Mudokons from corporate tyranny in this plot.

What is new to discover in Oddworld: Soulstorm?
New gameplay mechanics in Soulstorm include a crafting and scavenging system, which allows Abe to create a variety of items such as mines that render opponent defenders out. The best part this time is that the game has multiple endings.
In the former, rigid commands in Oddworld games were associated with a sense of anger.
Abe’s gestures are much more sensitive here, which puts it in line with smooth gameplay.
Abe also gets a dual leap for the very first time in his life, which is pointless to rejoice in but helps to quicken the tempo.
Soulstorm plays exactly like an Oddworld title might operate in 2021, thanks to a supportive bottleneck feature.
However, the faulty AI causes inexcusable annoyance.
Instances when the enemy’s actions were inconsistent or they were trapped, forcing me to reboot.
Some aspects of the game, such as the blimp assault and subsequent stage fights, are often badly crafted, frustrating players with unpredictable components and challenges that rely on cheesy dynamics.
It doesn’t arise often enough to ruin the entire quality, however it does reduce the replay value of some stages that are hampered by the inconsistency of nature.
Oddworld: Soulstorm Skills and Abilities
It’s much more than saving all those Mudokons for a better Quarmic score and story result in Soulstorm.
Oddworld: Soulstorm has approximately 1,400 Mudokons that you can save and saving almost 80% is advisable to extract their benefits.
Players would be able to use the power of numbers to work their way out of more complicated circumstances that Abe might not be able to handle on his own.
This also allows the player to place these more competent (and potentially fatal) followers across a level as active agents who can provide a defense.
At the end of the game, you unlock the select level feature to play or improve your performance at any level and get your desired ending if you couldn’t get that earlier.

The game is not only interesting but visually immersive too.
The story has been told expertly through cutscenes that make Abe and the rest of the cast look better than they’ve ever looked before and reaped the benefits of the PlayStation 5’s architecture.
Despite Abe’s near-constant threat, you’ll find it difficult not to be enthralled by the game’s stunning graphics and lighting effects.
It’s easy to see the improved focus.
Oddworld: Soulstorm is an almost unidentifiable reinvention of its predecessor Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus, while New ‘n’ Tasty was a fairly obedient recreation of the 1997 PlayStation version.
It uses environments as input and expands on them with new stages, monsters, and dynamics, making it feel like a whole new Oddworld adventure.
The theatrical characteristics are the most visible improvement.
Oddworld: Soulstorm features spectacular CGI visuals and levels rich in imagery, such as blimps raining rockets from the sky or riding tracks on sand-covered speeding rails.
The lens often sweeps over the landscape to reveal distant targets.

Oddworld: Soulstorm has a lot to like, but it’s a suggestion with a few restrictions.
While the graphics and storytelling bag brownie points, the gameplay can become a bit rustic and repetitive for the older fans. Still, it’s enjoyable.
One thing that would require taking care of is the massive bug that the game carries.
When Abe’s jumping, dropping, or death is disrupted by another state over a single frame, he becomes trapped in an endless falling loop.
The bug that causes Abe to freeze in place can be fixed by resetting the progress to the previous checkpoint, from which the players can restart their progress.
Another bug, which seems to be exclusive to PS4 Pro and PS4 consoles, causes players to be booted to the home screen.

Oddworld: Soulstorm Available Platforms
The game is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5, and is free for PlayStation 5 users with a PS+ subscription this month. It costs £40/$45 and can be easily found in a variety of game stores.
The inevitable poor execution and irritating glitches keep it from being the spectacular Abe experience it aspires to be, but if you can get through the discomforts, there’s a convincing mystery platform game here that brings Oddworld’s wonders back into existence.
Apart from these issues, the game is a treat to fans who would get to witness something good on a level unimaginable before. Yes, by now your hands might be itching to lay hands on the impressive game. Way to go!
