The romance between NFL quarterback Evan Engram and model Emily Caro seems like it belongs in a romantic comedy. In 2019, while Emily was out on a girls’ night, she happened to meet him at a restaurant in Los Angeles. They struck up a conversation that lasted for hours. Emily says, “We just watched each other’s lives as friends through pictures and story posts and ended up exchanging social media handles.”

After two years, Emily relocated to New York City to pursue her modeling career, and Evan started playing for the New York Giants. Emily had no idea that Evan had “never stopped hoping for a chance to shoot his shot with me.” Thus, even though she had originally arranged for her friend and him to go on a double date—during which she would accompany them as a wingwoman—during the actual date, their sentiments were evident.

Emily recalls, “There was a communication misunderstanding and he thought the double date was for us.” On that double-date night, he made his intentions known, and it completely turned the evening around. It was like a beam of light shining on him and the sky parting for me when he revealed the feelings he had been holding for years. All along, I had known he was the one.

The couple transitioned onto the next phase of their relationship in July 2021 while visiting Sail Rock Resort in Turks and Caicos. Emily explains, “Normally, Evan is very laid back and lets me plan everything, but on this trip, he was very specific.” He insisted that we have a special meal on the beach the first night.

Evan took me to the beach that was outside the resort at dusk after we had dressed. My favorite flower, orchids, were spread out on the sand. Our portable speaker was playing Daniel Caesar’s song “Best Part.” After pausing to take a big breath together, he got down on one knee and proposed to me.

Because they took their time throughout their two-year engagement, Emily and Evan claimed that organizing their grand celebration at Oheka Castle for their wedding was a snap. The couple said of their wedding planner Lauren and her team of Elle Audrey Events, “They made it such a fun and easy process.” Since our love story began in New York, we decided to get married there. We experienced many firsts in our partnership together, including our first house together in New York.

Making the wedding outfit selection was a thrilling aspect of getting ready for the big day. In the end, Emily had a personalized Enaura design made just for the event. She explains, “I wanted a dress I hadn’t seen before.” “After leaving retailers, I would either see the dresses on someone else’s wedding or all over social media! I sobbed after trying on several other dresses! I got help from Flo from Bridals by Lori in Atlanta to create a unique appearance.

Emily essentially had two Enaura gown patterns combined into one to create a distinctive style. An overskirt full of delicate tulle ruffles added a dramatic touch to a strapless body-hugging gown with embroidered accents. The bride held a rosary that her grandmother had given her in lieu of a bouquet.

She says, “I knew I wanted to carry on her tradition on my wedding day and surprise her at the same time.” In order to establish a unified color scheme for the day, Emily’s wedding party wore sage bridesmaid dresses of their own choosing to stand by her side during the ceremony. The bride would put on a Dilber Gunel mini and dance the night away after dinner.

What about the groom? “Evan desired a modern appearance,” the bride explains. Together, he and Arminius designed a custom ensemble for him. Emily says, “James Bond with a twist” served as his influence. Clean lines, a textured suit over a pattern, and subtle accents will preserve his appearance sophisticated and timeless. The brand also provided black ensembles for the groomsmen.

Their April 12 spring wedding took place against the appropriately beautiful setting of Oheka Castle, whose grounds are evocative of a French chateau. “Evan and I had envisioned holding an outdoor ceremony on the famous castle grounds,” Emily adds. The first time I saw our ceremony, it was such a strange experience.

With an abundance of lush greenery and a variety of white flowers, it genuinely seemed like we were in the middle of nature, realizing our vision. The bride says, “I had faith that the sky would clear and the ceremony would be perfection,” despite the rain putting their plans to get married outside to the test. Fortunately, the clouds changed course at the last second, allowing the day to proceed according to schedule.

For the pair, the ceremony marked the conclusion of a range of emotions. They didn’t see each other until Emily started her procession since they chose to have a first touch instead of a first sight. The bride recalls, “I went in first so Evan could have a moment to process everything.” I didn’t feel like smiling till I went outdoors and we looked at each other. My dad then arrived to walk me down the aisle. For all of us, it was an emotional occasion. During our vows, I broke down. I was so happy that I was unable to stop crying!

Evan experienced the moment’s gravity as well. Emily says, “He was so overwhelmed with emotion throughout the day and into the ceremony.” He had sobbed so much during the day that he was concerned he wouldn’t cry at the altar. When he saw me at the altar, he did in fact start crying. He claims that the realization that his forever was on his way truly struck him at that very time.

The festivities moved inside, into a room with long tables arranged around the dance floor, hanging installations, and white flowers. In order to spend as much time as possible with their loved ones, the newlyweds decided to have a head table. Following moving speeches from those closest to them, the pair prepared to dance the night away. “To know Evan and me is to know we love a good party,” the bride declared.

The couple is still feeling the excitement of their big day as they enter their next phase of life. “It’s true that newlywed bliss exists,” they say. After referring to ourselves as fiancés for two years, we now find it somewhat strange to say husband and wife! However, this is the best transformation we have ever experienced.
