Neon Genesis Evangelion All Set to Get Blu-ray Release

Some time back,

There was only one way to watch the legendary anime series Neon Genesis Evangelion in the US.

And that was some overpriced bootlegs.

At that time, many had no alternatives than to invest in illegal means.

Then came Netflix & changed everything.

It was in 2014 when Netflix aired 1st anime on its streaming platform.

However, Neon Genesis Evangelion fans still had to wait for 4-5 years as Netflix acquired the streaming rights of the anime in November 2018.

Even after the online English Dub premiere of Neon Genesis Evangelion in 2019, fans had a concern regarding the license.

If you’ve got the same bit of doubt in your head, now’s the opportunity for you to get your hands on the physical copy of Neon Genesis Evangelion anime.

The issue with Netflix’s Neon Genesis Evangelion Rights

On November 26 of 2018, Netflix acquired the worldwide streaming rights of an all-time classic anime Neon Genesis Evangelion.

At that time, streaming rights were limited to:

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series
  • Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death
  • The End of Evangelion.

Even after adding these movies & anime series in the Q2 2019, Netflix missed out on some action.

Fly Me to the Moon” is one such example as its streaming is limited in a particular region.

Further, this year in May 2020, a British anime distributor Anime Limited acquired the home video distribution rights to the original Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death and The End of Evangelion films.

With Netflix, you never know when the anime series leaves the streaming platform.

Or, how long they can hold on to the streaming rights of the anime series.

What would you do if they disappear again?

Would you go back to the same old overpriced bootlegs?

So, in that case, a physical copy of the Neon Genesis Evangelion anime series is quite useful.

The biggest advantage you get with a physical copy is, you’ve them forever.

Neon Genesis Evangelion Blu-ray Release Confirmed.

Before October 3, 2020, there was no legal way for you to get the physical copy of Neon Genesis Evangelion anime.

Now – you’ve one.

In October 2020, Neon Genesis Evangelion anime has completed 25 successful years.

So, on this occasion, a popular US-based anime distributor GKIDS has acquired the rights to distribute the physical copies of Hideaki Anno’s surreal and hyper-personal series, and films such as Evangelion: Death and The End of Evangelion.

Now, with this deal, all the die-hard fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion will benefit the most.

From next year, the United States users can purchase their own Blu-ray & Digital copies. Here’s what GKIDS president David Jesteatdt had to say on their latest acquisition:

Neon Genesis Evangelion was one of the first titles that transformed my idea of what animation is truly capable of,

GKIDS was created with the intent to distribute the best animation in the world, and it’s an honor to help share such a groundbreaking work with North American audiences in new formats.

Btw, before the official release in the US, there are some questions that GKIDS needs to answer:

Which English dub will feature in the Blu-ray – Original English dub or Netflix’s dub?

Will it include “Fly Me to the Moon” movie (That’s the only one missing from Netflix)?

Well, whatever the answers are, we’ll know them once the Reps. from GKIDS confirms.

We’ll let you know once we’ve all the confirmed answered. So, stay tuned with us to get all the fresh updates.
