Modern Warfare Warzone Battle Royale: New Details Leaked – What To Expect

Call Of Duty – Modern Warfare fans have been looking forward to a Battle Royale mode being added to the game since its release. The Season 2 trailer for Modern Warfare, however, did tease its existence. Near the end, you can see green smoke surrounding the arena, as gunfights and explosions rage within it.

Modern Warfare players who have downloaded the Season 2 update have noticed a “classified” menu being added to their game modes. This is most likely to be the game’s Battle Royale mode, rumoured to be called “Warzone”.

Numerous “Warzone” Leaks

While Warzone is not out officially, there have been multiple cases of players accidentally gaining access to it. Gameplay footage of what appears to be the training mission for Warzone was also leaked onto the internet.

Images of what the Warzone map looks like are also circulating the internet. These images give players a detailed look at the layout and size of this map. They also suggest that the Warzone map will host a massive 200 players at once. Other popular Battle Royale titles such as PUBG and Fortnite only host 100-player matches. In comparison to them, this is a huge step up.

There are also suggestions that Warzone may be released as a standalone, free-to-play game altogether. This would mean that players who wish to play Warzone may not have to purchase Call Of Duty – Modern Warfare in its entirety. This would also put Warzone in direct competition with titles such as Apex Legends. Activision and Infinity Ward have neither confirmed nor denied the legitimacy of these leaks.

Not Call Of Duty’s First Battle Royale

When the time of Warzone’s official release comes, it would make Modern Warfare the 2nd Call Of Duty game to include Battle Royale. The previous entry in the series to include Battle Royale was 2018’s Black Ops 4, with its “Blackout” mode. Blackout also included just 100 players on the map at once. If the rumour of Warzone’s 200-player map pans out, it would be an upgrade on Blackout as well.

Warzone would add to the game’s long list of multiplayer modes. These include the 2v2 Gunfights mode, a new addition to the series, along with older, popular modes such as Team Deathmatch and Infected (Modern Warfare’s take on Zombies).

Call Of Duty – Modern Warfare is out now on PS4, Xbox One and PC, both digitally and at physical retail stores.
