Between 2010 and 2014, Smith portrayed Dr. Who's 11th Doctor in the show, after David Tennant. His acting career has since blossomed, with appearances in films and television shows such as Terminator Genisys; The Crown; Morbius; and House of the Dragon.
It's been revealed that Gatwa will replace Jodie Whittaker as the 14th Doctor in the forthcoming Christmas special, which will see Whittaker end off her tenure as the 13th Doctor. He is the first person of colour to be cast in the lead role of a British science fiction series, and he will be working with Russell T. Davies, the original showrunner of Doctor Who.
Gatwa is now filming the live-action Barbie with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, in addition to the BBC series and his continued appearance as the friendly Eric Effiong in Netflix's Sex Education.
Matt Smith Career Beginning
When Matt Smith was a kid, he was on the verge of becoming a professional football player (or a soccer player depending on where you live). The back injury that ended Smith's sports career was a terrible blow to the young man's hopes and dreams. Of course, the entertainment business reaped the benefits of the football world's demise.
