Between 2010 and 2014, Smith portrayed Dr. Who's 11th Doctor in the show, after David Tennant. His acting career has since blossomed, with appearances in films and television shows such as Terminator Genisys; The Crown; Morbius; and House of the Dragon.

It's been revealed that Gatwa will replace Jodie Whittaker as the 14th Doctor in the forthcoming Christmas special, which will see Whittaker end off her tenure as the 13th Doctor.
