Mark Hamill Thanks Fans On The Empire Strikes Back’s 40th Anniversary
The Empire Strikes Back remains to this day the most beloved Star Wars film of all time. By redefining what a film sequel could be and taking the Skywalker saga to new heights, the film did everything right. As the film celebrates its 40th release anniversary, the Star Wars fandom is busy sharing stories, and tributes. Series star and Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill has thanked fans for their love and support for the franchise. The Star Wars fandom had always been a passionate one, and Hamill's words echo just that. In a heartfelt message, he also revealed some behind the scenes tidbits.
Hamill said, “I'm overwhelmed by the messages you all have sent me in support of this movie. The most physically challenging of them all, but also the most rewarding, considering the arrival of @NathanHamill during the shoot. Forevermore our #EmpireStrikesBaby”
Hamill Says All
Hamill also once revealed that Empire remains to this day, his favourite film whilst also adding that this wasn't a decision he made lightly.
In any case, this is certainly something a lot of people agree with!
Hamill said that it's like picking your favourite child. And that you like them all for different reasons, the actor said last year when asked about his favourite in the series. “I suppose I'd have to go with Empire, purely because it was so unexpected to have the protagonist be so soundly defeated. Losing his hand and the dad Vader, all of it was pretty unexpected. And it was much more cerebral. Yoda is such an important addition to the mythology and I thought it was so clever of George, the concept of the Force, so you can talk about religion and spirituality without making everyone uncomfortable. So, for that alone.”
