I think it’s fair to say that Furiosa from Mad Max: Fury Road now stands as one of the most iconic action film heroines; up there with the likes of Sarah Conner and Ripley. Played by Charlize Theron to perfection, the character was an instant hit with the audiences when the film released in 2015. Miller, who is working on a Furiosa prequel has now confirmed that the film won’t star Charlize Theron. Instead, the film will be focusing on a younger Furiosa as she finds her place in the Wasteland.
In addition to the prequel, Miller is also working on a fifth Mad Max film titled “Mad Max: The Wasteland”. I think it’s reasonable to expect that Furiosa will return in some capacity in the fifth film, with Theron returning to the role.
As it stands, however, the last we heard of the prequel was that Miller auditioned Anya Taylor-Jones for the role of Furiosa. Although nothing is set in stone, Taylor-Jones taking on the role is very much a possibility.

Miller Says No To De-Ageing Theron In Mad Max
Miller also said that he is working to finish a script he started years before Fury Road even hit the theatres. And it seems that for the longest period of time, he wanted Theron to reprise her role with de-ageing technology. But he has since changed his time because the technology just isn’t there yet.
And I happen to agree with Miller’s comments. The last thing I want in a Mad Max movie is to be distracted by CGI. The Irishman’s attempts at de-ageing, while certainly ambitious, distracted the audiences a lot.
It’s also worth noting that Miller started writing the prequel script to pen a backstory for Furiosa in Fury Road. We as the audience, don’t really get to see a lot of her backstory, but it’s certainly exciting to see where this road leads.
