Right now, Taylor Swift is everywhere you look. I wonder why she’s such a big deal. Check out our feature story for an overview of all things Swift.

The conflict

For those who don’t know, it all started when Taylor’s acceptance speech at the 2009 VMAs was cut short by Kanye West, Kim’s ex-husband, who said Taylor didn’t deserve her best female video award. Later, Kanye rapped, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why?,” in his 2016 song Famous. I brought fame to that b*tch.” Taylor criticized the song, claiming it was misogynistic.

However, Kim supported Kanye in a Keeping Up With the Kardashians episode that year. She even shared video snippets of Kanye and Taylor having a phone discussion to demonstrate that Taylor had given her OK for the song’s release.

Following that, a second leaked video showed Kim and Kanye speaking with Taylor on the phone without fully disclosing to her the contents of the song. Several of the tracks on Taylor’s 2017 album Reputation made reference to the occurrence.

The 31-song new album, which features references to numerous other musicians and celebrities like Charlie Puth, Matty Healy, Joe Alwyn, Clara Bow, Stevie Nicks, and Patti Smith, has been met with mixed reviews from fans.
