Jennifer Lopez has signed a new music and publishing deal with BMG, reveal for the first time.
J.Lo, an award-winning singer and actress, will release her upcoming ninth studio album, This Is Me…Now, on Nuyorican/BMG as part of the global partnership. The album has 13 songs and will be her ninth overall.
Lopez’s last studio album as a solo artist, A.K.A., came out in 2014. This set will be her first studio album as a solo artist in nine years. The highest spot that record reached on the Billboard 200 chart was No. 8. It was made by RedOne. Under Universal Studios/Sony Music US Latin, she and Maluma put out the music for their movie “Marry Me” in 2022.
Thomas Coesfeld, the CEO of BMG, said in a statement, “We are thrilled to have the chance to work with her and her team to release her first album in nearly a decade.” He called Lopez a “global superstar artist, entertainer, and phenomenon.”
Thomas Scherer, president of BMG’s repertoire and marketing in Los Angeles and New York, said, “We are happy and proud to work with Jennifer Lopez on this long-awaited sequel to “This Is Me… Then.” ‘This Is Me..Now’ is uplifting and inspiring because it is clear that it was written with love and from experience. “Jenny From the Block” is back at a time in her career when her message is more important than ever.”
This Is Me…Now was made at Lopez’s home studio in Los Angeles in 2022 and 2023 by J.Lo, Rogét Chahayed, Angel Lopez, and Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman. Hitboy, Ink, Tay Keith, Yeti Beats, Carter Lang, and Kim “Kaydence” Krysiuk were also songwriters and producers who worked on the album. BMG’s Brandon Riester was the A&R for the record.
The press release says that the upcoming set is “an exciting musical trilogy that shows off the extraordinary talents of the triple threat.”
