“We’re honest with each other. And it comes across,” Jason stated.
Travis Kelce and Jason Kelce are the epitome of brotherhood.
The 36-year-old former NFL player and Monday Night Countdown commentator talked about how his “loving relationship” with his younger brother Travis kelce has helped their New Heights podcast prosper during ESPN’s media day on Wednesday, August 28.
“I think on the podcast, you get, first of all, an organic, loving relationship between two brothers. We’re honest with each other. And it comes across,” said Jason. “And we have good personalities that I think generally audience members appreciate, and like to want to watch and listen to, which I don’t know if I agree fully with that, but they’re there.”
The Kelce brothers, who just inked a $100 million three-year contract with Wondery, Amazon’s podcast studio, debuted the third season of their podcast on Wednesday.
Jason stated, “I think that we’re very, very open people by nature, and I think that we share things, and we obviously are living exciting lives that people want to follow. And then all that stuff helps … because the more people watch, the more money advertisers spend.”
Bringing his podcast hosting background to his new position at ESPN, he intends to be “authentically myself.”
“I think that I’m going to try and carry that same level of authenticity I’ve had in my podcast, really my whole life, throughout being a player,” he said.
“I think that people appreciate that. They can tell when you’re trying to sell them a used car or not,” continued Jason. “And I think for me, that’s my biggest thing that I think will help me have success as well as putting the work in and preparing.”
Kylie Kelce, his wife, recently expressed her confidence that he will “excel” in his new role.
“I jokingly say it’s a pain in the butt that he’s good at everything, and I know I’m biased in that, but I truly believe he’s good at everything because even if he’s not good at the start or the best at the start,” she told.
“He will work, endlessly and tirelessly until he can achieve that. So, I have full faith that he’s going to tackle his new position and excel,” continued Kylie.
The first Monday Night Football game of the 2024 NFL season is scheduled for Monday, September 9, and the season begins on Thursday, September 5.
