Jada Pinkett Smith Makes A Shocking Revelation About Will Smith’s Oscars Slap

The Academy Awards are one of the highest awards in the entertainment world and have made every artist wait. The Oscars, which is known for its legacy, was first awarded in 1929 and it has continued its originality and elegance ever since then. People look up to the award show with great dignity however, last year, things were completely changed and the Oscars were one of the most controversial years.

In a People magazine, Jada Smith talked about the incident and said that after the incident was over, she had not talked to Chris. “[Do I have] any desire to talk to Chris? Here’s my desire: I hope that all the misunderstanding around this can be cleared up and that there can be peace,” she told the magazine.

“I talk about this in the book, I think that there might be some misunderstanding between Chris and me as far as the 2016 Oscars. I think that he might’ve taken offense, which I meant no harm in offending. That wasn’t my intention. But I do think that there’s a big misunderstanding there.”

In March 2022, the beautiful night where every single person was waiting to watch, we saw one of the most unexpected moments in history. Will Smith slapped Chris Rock. Most of the media was shocked. Initially, many people reported it as a scripted play to make everyone laugh, but later, it was revealed that Smith was angry.

After the heated moment was over, Will Smith received the Best Actor award for the film, “King Richard.” It is a movie that deals with Venus and Serena Williams’ father Richard Williams. The actor left people speechless with his speech but it looks like the world already has something else to say. A Few people defended the actor but the majority of people criticized his act on such a big level.

Jada, talking about the incident, said, “He said, ‘I didn’t mean you any harm., ‘I can’t talk about this now, Chris. This is some old s—,’”

Adding to it, “I thought this was [about] the Oscar 2016 and … their stuff that they had before I even came into the picture in the late ‘80s. I’ve got to leave that to Will and Chris to talk about, but they got their stuff for sure.”

Initially, Jada thought that it was a skit but later realized that it wasn’t, Also, Pinkett Smith said she didn’t realize about the issue as she was fat sitting, “because, number one, I’d seen Will in the boxing ring with pro fighters — Will’s a heavy-hitter. So when Chris moved, it looked like he ducked or missed the shot. And when he continued to stand, and then when he continued to walk down to the end of the stage, I was like, ‘There’s no way. No way Will hit him.’”

It was later that she realized that Smith hit him. She said, “I was in as much of a fog as anybody else in that room that night,” she said.

Adding more to it, she recalled her incident with Chris where he asked him for a date, “And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce,” she said of the nearly annual reports of trouble in the Smith marriage. “So he called me and he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized and that was that.”

Many people talked about it and there were certain rumors for Smith to be banned from the Academy Awards. Will Smith himself resigned from the Academy Award, he was a member of the group since 2001. Later, he was banned from the award show for 10 years.

Talking about it, he said, “I accept and respect the Academy’s decision.” He might have won the award, but his actions played a big role in his next movie, “Emancipation,” which was not well-received by the fans. Later, “Bright” was canceled.

Rock didn’t respond but later said in his Netflix stand-up special titled “Selective Outrage.”
