About Lidia Bastianich

Lidia Bastianich is an Italian-American celebrity chef, television host, restaurateur, and author in Italian and Italian-American cuisine. She was born in Istria but later immigrated to the United States in 1958 along with her family. Her career began at a very young age and she developed her interest in food at a early age itself.

She worked at a bakery in Queens while she was teenager. She has also hosted series like, ”Lidia’s Italy”, ”Lidia’s Family Table”, ”Lidia’s Kitchen”, ”Lidia’s Italian-American Kitchen”, and ”Lidia Celebrates America”

She opened her first restaurant, Buonavia, with her husband Felice Bastianich in the year 1971. They then opened more restaurants in New York City, including, Esca, Del Posto which got closed in 2021, Felidia, Becco, and Eataly. Talking about the books written by her includes, ”Lidia’s Mastering the Art of Italian Cuisine”, ”Lidia’s Celebrate Like an Italian”, and ”Lidia’s Commonsense Italian Cooking.”

She has won manyl awards for her work, including Emmy Awards, James Beard Awards, and an Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.
