‘I’m Sooooo Not Chill,’ Sabrina Carpenter Recalls Her Musical Guest Debut on Saturday Night Live

Sabrina Carpenter is still in shock from her first musical guest appearance on Saturday Night Live.

On Saturday, May 18, during the show’s season 49 finale, which was hosted by actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 43, the singer, 25, performed her smash track “Espresso”.

The next day, Carpenter posted a video of her performance on Instagram, which featured her belting out lines from the bar-themed set, such as “I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer.”

“Literally working late cuz I’m a singer @nbcsnl thank you for having us I’m sooooo not chill about it and never will be,” the musician captioned her photo, referencing the same lyrics.

Carpenter also sang a mashup of her songs “Feather” and “Nonsense” during her presence.

Adele made her on-stage debut on the show when she introduced the song “Espresso” during her Las Vegas residency performance at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum.

Adele revealed in a video posted on X (previously known as Twitter) about going back to performing in Vegas after taking a vocal rest period, “I nearly wet myself because my whole body clock was out of sync… I was so in need of a urinal when I was on stage at 11:30.”

“However, I always return to the hotel, stay there, or do anything else by, at the latest, 11:10. The British singer continued, “And then I have to warm my voice down, then I have a steam shower and things like that.”

“Last night, I went to bed at a fairly late hour; typically, I go to bed by nine p.m. She went on, singing the lyrics to Carpenter’s “Espresso,” “I found myself singing, ‘I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer.”

“That Sabrina Carpenter song! ‘I can’t relate to desperation.’ That song is my jam!” said Adele.

“From tomorrow, it will be like, ‘I’m sleeping late ’cause I’m a singer,’ because that’s what I’m gonna do tomorrow,” his “Easy on Me” artist said afterwards.

Carpenter posted a brief portion of the video along with the message, “Um guys can someone check on me,” on her Instagram Stories. “All I read was Adele thinks about me in bed <3” was her humorous response to a Pop Base post on X regarding the video.

Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. is when Saturday Night Live airs. EST on NBC and will air again in the fall for season 50.
