The Huawei P40 series of phones is out now. There’s some serious horsepower under the hood. All three of the devices that are part of this series have some incredible specs.
Huawei’s P40 lineup seems to go blow for blow with Samsung’s Galaxy S20 series. The lowest-end smartphone in the series is the P40, then comes the P40 Pro, and the P40 Pro+ comes in at the highest end. Also, once again like the Galaxy S20 series, all of Huawei’s P40 series phones are 5G compatible.
Huawei P40 Specs
Don’t let the P40 being the lowest-end smartphone fool you, though. It still features Huawei’s own Kirin 990 5G, octa-core processor, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB internal storage and support for external memory cards on top of that. The display is a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED panel.
The rear camera setup is quite amazing, too. It has a 50 MP primary sensor, a 16 MP ultra-wide lens and an 8 MP telephoto lens. The front camera setup features a 32 MP camera as well as an IR camera. Both the front and rear cameras also feature support for 4K video at 60fps. The 3700 mAh battery with Huawei’s 22.5 W SuperCharge should give you decent battery life as well.
Huawei P40 Pro Specs
The P40 Pro features much of the same feature set. However, it has a 6.58-inch OLED display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 256 GB internal storage instead. The rear camera module is where things start shifting a bit more.
Alongside the main 50 MP shooter, it has a massive 40 MP ultra-wide Cine camera, a 12 MP telephoto camera along with a 3D depth-sensing camera. This 3D depth-sensing camera appears next to the 32 MP front camera as well. It also comes with a 4100 mAh battery Huawei’s 40 W wired SuperCharge and 27 W wireless SuperCharge
P40 Pro+ Specs
As if these specs weren’t impressive enough, some the numbers the P40 Pro+ has are just silly. It has a lot in common with the P40 Pro, including the display, RAM, processor, battery capacity and front camera setup. It does have some slight differences when we go to the rear camera module, though.
On top of the 50 MP main shooter, the 40 MP Cine camera and the 3D depth-sensing camera, the P40 Pro+ has an 8 MP telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom and another 8 MP super zoom lens that can do a whopping 10X optical zoom. It also features support for 40 W wireless charging.
Operating System, Pricing, Release Date
These three powerhouses are all running EMUI 10.1. While this operating system is based on Android 10, Huawei doesn’t have any of Google’s Play services, due to the US governments sanctions on the company.
The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro will be hitting Europeans markets on April 7, 2020, retailing at €799 and €999 respectively. The P40 Pro+ has a price tag of €1399, but no European release date as of yet.
