Several roles (see character list below) are played by Catherine, including Laura Willis, the Governor who believes that creativity leads to rehabilitation, and Big Viv, the psychopath who has had a long life. In the meantime, executive producer Kristian Smith has this to say: “We are extremely excited to be able to show people the inside of HMP Woldsley, our imaginary jail inhabited by the brilliant inventions of Catherine Tate when it premieres on Netflix. This series is both humorous and heartbreaking at the same time since it depicts what life may be like in a female correctional facility in the United Kingdom.”

Big Viv (see photo below) is a scary figure that is dreaded by both inmates and captives. She's violent, unpredictable, and her happy place is in her singing – everything you'd want in a cellmate. Vivienne is a die-hard fan of the Kardashians, with whom she has a strong emotional bond, and she discovers a passion for theatre when she becomes involved with the musical.

Marco (as depicted above) is an Essex-based jail guard. He's made it down to the final 32 on Love Island, so he doesn't have anything to prove. He is more concerned with his appearance than he is with his job, which he only accepted since it allows him to go to work without changing tubes.

Hard Cell

Ros' mother is named Anne Marie. A nasty, mean, ex-con who pays visits to her daughter whenever she is in financial difficulty. She takes full advantage of her daughter's unconditional affection, which she treats with contempt and scorn.
