Past winners of this category includes John Klaus for old payola roll blues, Robert Fine for the civil war vol. 1 and Ted Keep for Alvin’s Harmonica.

When Will the 64th Annual Grammy Awards Take Place?

The ceremony is scheduled to be held on Monday, 31st January 2022, from 8:00 to 11:30 p.m ET. It will be broadcast live from the Staples Center, Los Angeles by CBS Television Network. You can also stream it live on Paramount+.

Nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards

The nominations for the ceremony were out on Tuesday, 23rd November 2021. And surprisingly, Jon Batiste – the bandleader of Stephen Colbert’s Late Show is the most nominated artist. He got 11 nominations from his recent LP, We Are. He is also nominated in categories, such as record of the year, the best R&B album and the best music video for his “Freedom” track.

H.E.R and Doja Cat came a distant second with eight nominations each. They are the joint second-most nominees.

Following closely are Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish with seven nominations each.

Which artists make the list for the most notable snubs? Taylor Swift and BTS. Both artists could only manage one nomination each for the 2022 Awards. Though, Swift can take consolation in the fact that she is nominated for the top category of Album of the Year for her album “Evermore”. A category she won at the last event.

The Host for the 2022 Grammy Awards

It was announced on CBS on the 1st of December 2021 that Trevor Noah of the Daily Show will host the ceremony. This will be the second time he is hosting Music’s Biggest Night and it is for the 2nd year in a row.

“Why would I refuse to do the Grammys?” Noah stated on CBS. “Being the host has given me a front row ticket to the biggest music awards of all time.” He also added a couple of spice,

“As the host, I serve lots of purposes. If I’m absent, who will lift Kevin Hart into his seat? I also have to give Jay-Z some emotional support; he is a nervous man… I will be there to give everyone the moral support that they need.”

Noah was quite awesome at the 2021 Awards. He appeared to be well entertained by all the performances and the artists appreciated him for that.

Have the Rules Changed for the 2022 Grammy Awards?

The rules of the 2022 ceremony are a little bit different from past rules. The notable changes are visible in the voting and nomination process. In recent Grammy Awards, nominees in a category were chosen by a committee of fifteen to thirty persons, and not the whole membership body. But now, the nominees of the present awards are chosen by the majority of voting members.

Furthermore, instead of allowing members to vote in up to fifteen genre-specific categories, the voters will be restricted to ten categories within only three fields.

In a bid to assist voters in narrowing down the three fields, the Grammy Awards is consolidating the former six fields into two: Production and Presentation. With this change, voters can vote according to their expertise. There will be no restriction of their preference because of the new voting rules.
