The official trailer for Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator 2,” which stars Paul Mescal as an adult Lucius, has been released by Paramount Pictures. It is time to get back into the ring, as the trailer has been released. November 22 is the day that the long-awaited sequel is scheduled to be released.
Lucius is the nephew of Commodus, the antagonist of the first film, which was portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix. Lucius is the son of Lucilla, who is an actress played by Connie Nielsen. During the first film adaptation of “Gladiator,” Spencer Treat Clark played the role of him when he was a child.
Lucius is now living in the northern African territory of Numidia, where he was sent by his mother when he was a youngster since it was just outside the reach of the Roman Empire. The sequel begins up years later with Lucius now residing in this location. Lucius is brought back to Rome as a gladiator by a series of events, and it is there that he meets up with his mother and discovers new adversaries.
Who are in the cast of ‘Gladiator 2’?
Among the supporting cast members are Pedro Pascal, who plays the role of Marcus Acacius, a Roman general who was trained by Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russell Crowe from “Gladiator”), Denzel Washington, who plays Macrinus, a wealthy powerbroker in Rome who maintains a stable of gladiators for sport, and Joseph Quinn and Fred Hechinger, who play the twin emperors of Rome.
Ridley Scott recently stated in an interview with Vanity Fair that he became a fan of Mescal’s after witnessing the actor’s breakout performance in the film “Normal People in the past.” After a brief conversation lasting approximately half an hour, Scott made the decision that Mescal would be the lead character in “Gladiator 2.”
Due to the fact that the actor had gained such a significant amount of weight for the picture, his co-star Pascal stated to the publication that it was quite difficult to compete against him in the arena. He also gave Mescal a moniker while they were working together: “Brick Wall Paul.”
“He got so strong. I would rather be thrown from a building than have to fight him again,” Pascal added. “To go up against somebody that fit and that talented and that much younger…It’s brutal, man.”
As Maximus, a Roman general who is betrayed by Commodus and condemned to slavery and to fighting as a gladiator in order to seek vengeance for his family, Russell Crowe played the role of Maximus in the first version of “Gladiator.” It is also Lucius and Lucilla who are spared from death by Maximus. The movie was a huge hit at the box office and won a number of Oscars, including the award for best picture and the award for best actor.
