Based on the manga series written by Mr. Kohske, Gangsta is an anime show that released its first season in 2015. When the manga series got released in 2011, it became so much famous that the Japanese anime studio Manglobe decided to adapt the series into an anime television format.
Unlike the manga series, the Gangsta anime series had to go through god knows how many hurdles. I’ll explain the same at the end of this post. So, stay with us. Now coming back to Gangsta anime, it was written by Shinichi Inotsume & ūkō Murase and Kōichi Hatsumi directed the show for 12 episodes.
As for its streaming rights, Funimation acquired the anime show for its release in North America. Later, Funimation also streamed the English dubbed version of the series. Apart from Funimation, Crunchyroll, animal, & anime limited licensed Gangsta Season 1 for simulcast release in limited regions.
Gangsta aired between 1 July 2015 to 27 September 2015 on Asahi Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Tokyo MX, TV Aichi, and BS11 in Japan. The 12 episodes released by Manglobe, covered quite a lot of manga plots.
Similar to the manga series, Gangsta anime displays apparent violence in its episodes. The anime series isn’t for you if you aren’t into gruesome & violent scenes.
Gangsta Anime Storyline
Goes by the name of “Handyman”, Gangsta anime is the story of two utility men-for-hire, Nicolas Brown & Worick Arcangelo. The duo works in the town of Ergastulum which is full of Hoodlums, mafia, prostitutes, and dirty cops. Together, they get their hands on any job that residents have to offer them.
Then one day at the job, Nicolas & Worick encounters a prostitute who goes by the name of Alex. After eliminating the gang, Nic & Worick decides to spare her life.

Previously being held under the control of Barry Abbott, Alex tries to remember her past of prostitution. With the growing unrest between 4 major powers in Ergastulum, history is looking to repeat itself

Worick Arcangelo
Worick Arcangelo is the first main character of the Gangsta anime series. When he was young, his name was Wallace. However, because of some undisclosed reasons, he changed his name to Worick. Worick works with Nicolas to gain some superior powers. Together, they’re known as a team of handymen.
In the Gangsta anime series, Worick is a brilliant guy who always keeps a patch over his eyes. He does this to hide one burned eye from the world. Because of his fashion choices, women tend to attract towards him.
A calm person by nature, Worick is always ready to help others in their time of need. But when he needs any help, he shies away from it.
Nicolas Brown
He is the second main character of the series & the partner of Worick. As I said earlier, Worick & Nicolas are two best friends. Whatever task is assigned to them, they solve all it together.
As compared to Worick. Nicolas has dark skin, and black hair to give him a villain look. Unlike Worick, Nicolas doesn’t like to share his emotions with others. His villain looks force others to be afraid of him. So, everyone thinks twice before messing up with him.
Alex Benedetto
Alex is the third main character of the Gangsta anime series & a former prostitute. At the start of the series when Alex was about to be killed, the handyman duo saved her by making her a secretary.
With no memory of her past life, Alex works as a part-time singer at Bastard club. She attracts countless males because of her killer light blue eyes, & attractive figure.

What would the Future of Gangsta Anime Hold?
Gangsta Season 1 ended on 27 September 2015 and had a controversial ending. Now, if you look at its viewership ratings, Gangsta Season 1 had quite low ratings as compared to any other adventure, thriller anime series. As of now, the chances of the Gangsta anime show getting a season 2 look quite slim. I’ve two reasons behind this theory:
- Ever since Gangsta season 1 ended, its author is suffering from an unknown illness.
- And secondly, Gangsta Season 1 was produced by Manglobe anime studio. By the end of Season 1, Manglobe filed for bankruptcy after getting into an estimated debt of 350 million yen.
Aren’t these the right reasons why we’ll not get Gangsta Season 2? But still, there are some die-hard fans who are looking forward to the release of season 2.
