A Spanish-born American graphic artist, Frank Kozik, was born on January 9, 1962. He took birth in Madrid, Spain. At the age of 15, he shifted to Sacramento, California in order to live with his father who was an American serviceman and his mother was of Spanish origin.
Kozik was a high school dropout and thereafter at the age of 18, he became a member of the U.S. Air Force and was posted to Austin, Texas. In his further years, he settled there.
Kozik first started working as a doorman at an Austin nightclub after quitting Air Force. There he became a member of the city’s underground rock scene.
At that time, he was well known for making flyers and posters for Austin punk bands.
In 1993, he commenced a print shop after moving to San Fransisco and established Man’s Ruin Records. Kozik started it with the idea of releasing more than 200 records taped by different punks and alternative bands.
Kozik soon earned name and fame in the world of entertainment and he even worked with several bands including Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Helmet, Stone Temple Pilots, and a lot more.
Later, he designed numerous album covers and also directed some music videos. He was specifically known for his screen prints and was also recognized as “one of the rock world’s top poster artists”.
Kozik spellbound everyone in the music industry with his extraordinary skills. Though he received huge love from his fans, he was not satisfied and quit the music industry.
Kozik disclosed the reason behind quitting the music industry in an interview with Jeremy Riad where he said “ he quit because of the “f**king a**holes” who wanted to build the little fort. He compared the current situation to what they experienced in the past: seeing everyone work together to “make cool things happen.”
