“Well, I mean, we’ve done it a couple of times now. It’s never easy. The newborn needs what the newborn needs. But yeah, you know, it’s fun,” he says at the premiere of his latest film Trap.
Josh Hartnett opens about the joys of raising his fourth Newborn baby.
“We have so much fun with our kids, so to be able to have that when I get off set, especially on something like this, is a dream come true. You need it,” adds Hartnett. “You need it in order to take this stuff out of your bed.”
A third child was born to the actor and Egerton in late 2019, as the actor confirmed in a Mr. Porter feature film that would be released in 2021. Additionally, the couple has two other children, the names of whom have not been known at this time.
Hartnett tells PEOPLE that he and his wife, who joined him to the event, continue to place a high priority on date evenings, despite the fact that they have recently welcomed a new member into the family.
“We don’t usually do this,” he jokes. “We usually have fewer people looking at us when we’re going on a date night. But we, you know, we’ll say this is a pretty, this is up there as far as like fun day nights go. She’s never seen the movie, so I’m excited to see what her reaction is.”
As part of the project directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Hartnett plays the role of Cooper, a father who takes his daughter Riley (played by Ariel Donoghue) to a performance by the imaginary pop artist Lady Raven (played by Saleka Shyamalan).
Following the revelation that the scene is a big cover-up in which officials are seeking to apprehend a serial killer known as the Butcher, the film follows the father and daughter as they traverse the scene.
“I knew that he [Shyamalan] was like one of the kind of best working original filmmakers in Hollywood. And just when this came up before I even read the script, I knew I wanted to be a part of it,” he says.
“So this was obviously a very challenging role, but I like a challenge. So it turned out to work. I think it worked out really well,” adds Hartnett. “I hope we get to work again.”
The movie “Trap” will be released in theaters on August 2nd.
