5 Fan-Favorite Attack on Titan Characters of All-Time

Ever since the debut in 2013, the Attack on Titan anime series is ruling in the anime world. Attack on Titan Season 4 will release on December 7, 2020. We’re getting close to bidding farewell to what has been an exceptional journey.

In the earlier days of December 2020, Crunchyroll held a popularity poll to find which Attack on Titan character was their favorite. The poll received an overwhelming response as 100,000 users participated in it to show their love for the anime.

5 Highly Voted Attack on Titan Characters

#5. Armin Arlert

The 5th favorite Attack on Titan character in this list is Armin Arlert. He’s the 15th & current commander of the Survey Corps. Before him, Hange Zoë was the 14th commander-in-chief of the survey corps. In his final moments, he made Armin Arlert the next commander of Survey Corps.

In the anime series, he’s the childhood friends of two deuteragonists of the series – Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman.  During the entrance of the 104th training corps, he was considered as the weakest character of all.

Apart from this trait, it was his intelligence and strategic genius that made him an invaluable asset for the survey corps. After taking on the Shiganshina District, he took the Titans’ power from Bertolt Hoover and waited no time to become the Colossus Titan.

#4. Hange Zoë

Hange Zoë is the 4th popular Attack on Titan character in this list. He was the 14th commander of the Survey Corps. He became the commander right before the death of 13th commander in chief Erwin Smith.

Before becoming the commander, he was the squad leader in charge of the Fourth Squad, which had the duties of innovative inventing and conducting research on Titans, & Eren Yeager (he possesses the ability to transform into a Titan).

After getting promoted to the commander’s post, Hange became in charge of recruiting, expedition planning, management of the regiment, and all the responsibilities previously commanded by Erwin.

Hanji is very passionate and driven in pursuit of new knowledge. She can be seen as very hyperactive, often diving into projects without thought for personal safety (and frightening lots of her subordinates in the process), instead preoccupied with observing and documenting their subjects.

Some misunderstands these acts of hers as eccentric and having more than a few screws loose in her head. She also enjoys discussing this research, but as the lectures can be very long and detail-oriented, not many fellow soldiers find them interesting.

#3. Eren Yeager

The third popular Attack on Titan character on the list is Eren Yeager. He was a member of Survey corps & the main protagonist of the Attack on Titan anime series. At a young age, he lived with his parents & adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman.

But soon, he helplessly witnesses his mother being eater by a Titan. Right after this, his hatred for Titans grew to such an extent that he swore to wipe all of them from the earth.

By the end of Attack on Titan Season 3, Eren possesses the power of three titans. Out of the three, he inherited two powers from his father – Attack & Finding Titans. He gained War Hammer Titan as the third power after eating the younger sister of Willy.

In the anime Eren can be described as being fearless. He was dedicated to both his friends, family and people and was very determined to achieve his goals of freeing the world from the Walls.

Even as a child, he always wanted to join the Survey Corps. Not for anyone but himself. After escaping the wall, all he wanted to was escape the walls & explore the outside word. And in this quest, Erin’s greatest strength and assets were also the main insperation for his desire for freedom.

However, these strong desire and dedication was the only reason why he did so many reckless mistakes. And in the end, these decisions were the reasons why he put his life, his friend’s life, his family & later put the nation at risk. The sad thing is Eran was supposed to protect them but ended up putting their line in grieve danger.

When he was a trainee, his seniors used to send him fight the Titans. But this recklessness was also the reason behind his teammates death. Nature wise, he tends to have a short temper. But this uncertinity in his anger is the reason behind him claiming the lives of his teammates.

You can judge the level of his anger by an incident where Armin initiated the fight but his anger reached to new heights as he turned Armin to a bloody pulp. He did all this even after know that he’s no match for Armin.

#2. Mikasa Ackerman

Mikasa Ackerman is the second favorite Attack on Titan character in this list. She’s the adoptive sister of the main protagonist of the anime series, Eren Yeager. She is the only deuteragonist of the series & the best friend of Armin Arlert (The 15th commander of Survey Corps).

When he was young, his biological parents were murdered by human traffickers. He was then rescued & adopted by Eren Yeager & his parents. She lived with them until the fall of Wall Maria. Because of her relations with the Azumabito family, she holds significant political power in Hizuru.

In the 104th Training Corps, she was declared as the as best soldier in the group. In her effort to follow & protect Eren, she became one of the greatest assets in the anime series.

Appearance wise, Mikasa is a fairly tall, physically fit, and well-toned woman with muscles lined throughout her arms, legs, and abdomen. She has got pale skin, black hair, grey eyes and she comes from partial Asian heritage. Earlier, she had quite a long hair but because of som incident, she dcided to cut them down to her chin-length.

Now, it’s the year 854 & she has shorter hair . When Mikasa’s off the duty. she likes to include a casual attire along with a simple knee-length white dress, and brown boots, her signature black scarf and a light cardigan.

#1. Levi Ackerman

Levi Ackerman is the most popular Attack on Titan character on this list. In the anime series, he’s considered humanity’s strongest soldier. He’s a captain of an elite squad in the Survey Corps. Even though he’s appeared to be blunt & unapproachable at the first instance, he holds strong respect for authority, structure, and discipline.

Before joining the army, he was part of a band of thieves who used to commit petty crimes. When the people find out that Eren could turn into a Titan, it was Levi who took him under his watch. No one else. The writers did all this to make him look like the most powerful man on Earth.

Despite not being the main character of the anime series, he came out as the anime series’s fan-favorite character.
